Randy Winn was 'traded' to the Mariners from Tampa Bay for manager Lou Piniella. He set career-highs in multiple offensive categories and was named Devil Rays MVP by the Tampa Bay Chapter BBWAA. He was also Tampa Bay's All Star in 2002. His 181 hits, 39 doubles and 27 stolen bases in one season have been equaled by just four other switch hitters in MLB history: Max Carey, Ozzie Smith, Devon White and Roberto Alomar  He matched career-high with 12-game hitting streak from April 12-26, batting .426.He also tied the AL record with 8 extra-base hits over three games. In 2002 he batted just under .300 at .298. He also fills the Mariners ever-empty LF spot.

Randy lives in Danville, California with his wife Blessings. He played baseball and basketball at San Ramon Valley High School and was named the Oakland Tribune's Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior . Randy attended Santa Clara University where he played basketball with Steve Nash.
