2000 was Mike Camerons first year as a Mariner. And he instantly became a fan favourtie when he made an over the wall jumping catch to rob Derek Jeter of a home run on April 7th, 2000. After fouling off 7 pitches on August 1st, 2000 he finally hit a walk off homerun in the bottom on the 19th to win the game (I was there and I was happy because it was cold and I was tired). He got his first career grand slam on June 15th. Last year he tied the major league record for RBI's in a game with 8 against the Yankees on August 19. He hit a grand slam, a 2-run home run and added and RBI single. He set a new, but not so good Mariners record for consecutive games with a strikeout with 26 breaking Jay Buhners record, but thats okay, if he didn't strike out he woudn't be Mike Cameron, lol.

Mike had somewhat of a dissapointing season in 2002. He suffered from eye problems in the beginning of the season, which resulted in high strikeout numbers. He had another 20-20 season, and tied a major league record by hitting 4 homeruns in one game against Chicago on May 2nd. He also got walked 4 that game, and his last hit almost went out of the ballpark. He and Bret Boone became the first pair of teammates to hit homeruns in the same inning twice (and they were back to back homeruns) Cammy again had better numbers on the road, and is continuing to work on lowering his strikeouts. And believe it or not, but at the beginning of the 2002 season, Mike was leading the major leagues in walks.

Cammy won a Gold Glovein 2001, and wants to win a Silver Slugger this year. He is foccusing on cutting down the strikeouts. He is working really hard with Edgar, and should improve. He was named to the All Star team last season.

Mike Cameron lives in LaGrange, Georgia with his wife JaBReka and their 3 kis Dazmon, T'Aja and Maki.
