| Born: 09/25/78 Birthplace: Rio Pedres, Puerto Rico Height: 6'1" Weight: 180 Position: P Bats/Throws:Right/Right ML Debut: August 8, 2000 Joel Pineiro got his first win on his ML Debut on August 8th, 2000 vs. Chicago. In 8 of his starts in 2001, out of 11 starts he gave up 1 run or less. His ERA was under 1.00 for a long time, and now it is under 2.00 which is really good. Joel started the 2002 season in the Mariners bullpen, posting a .50 ERA with only one earned run. He was then moved into the starting rotation, ending the season with an awesome 3.24 ERA. He also pitched his first complete game shutout of his career. He was named the Mariners Most Valuable Pitcher by the BBWAA. He will be the Mariners #3 starter in 2003, and also has the possibility of becoming their number one starter. Joel Pineiro graduated from Colonial HS where he lettered in baseball three times. |
