| Jeff Cirillo |
| Born: September 23, 1969 Height: 6-1 Weight: 190 lbs Bats/Throws: Right/Right Birthplace: Pasadena, California On Jeff Cirillo's 100th game without an error, a hard hit ball took a bad bounce and jumped over his glove. It was counted as an error, which left him tied at 99 consecutive games without an error. Jeff had a sub-par season last year, but with the help of his old hitting coach from Milwaukee as the new Mariners hitting coach, Jeff's 2003 season is looking bright! Jeff Cirillo is simply one of the best clutch hitters in the game. In 2000, he hit .391 with runners in scoring position, which was second in the National League. Jeff hit a league-high .403 at home and led NL third basemen in batting (.326) and hits (195) for the second consecutive season. He played in his second All-Star Game and finished the year with 53 doubles, becoming the first player in history to have seasons of at least 45 doubles in each league. Jeff hits line drives to all fields and is regarded as an excellent bunter. He also holds his own defensively, ranking fourth among NL third basemen in fielding percentage in 2000. Jeff has a career .311 batting average. He also set a record for 85 consecutive games without an error in the NL (the streak would still be going if he was still in the NL) and has to play the first 14 games this season without an error, to set the MLB record. Jeff is maried with kids and lives in Redmond, Washington. |
