Jay Buhner has been a Mariner since 1988 and starter his career with the evil Yankees. He leads the Mariners in almost all offensive categories. He is only the second Mariner to hit 300 home runs, joining Ken Griffey Jr. He did it vs Oakland on July 25, 2000. He is one of 3 Mariners to hit for the cycle joining Alrex Rodriguez and John Olerud. He doubled onto the catwalk in Tampa Bay when the ball never came down. Last year his season started late because he hurt his foot in Spring Training and was out for most of the season. He came back on September 1st, 2001.

Jay has decided to call his career quits. He had been coming down with too many injuries, and his body wouldn't let him continue. He is now a coach, and is helping out in Spring Training. Arpil 2nd is Jay Buhner day at the Safe.

Jay Buhner lives in Issaquah with his wife Leah and his daughter Brielle  and sons Chase and Gunnar. He is very active in the Seattle chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Was honored by the CF Foundation in November, 1997 with the Breath of Life Award for his outstanding commitment to cystic fibrosis.
