| Born: 03/05/73 Birthplace: Fort Smith, Arkansas Height: 6'3" Weight: 165 Position: P Bats/Throws: Right/Right College: Seminole, OK, JC MLB Debut: May 15th, 1999 Ryan Franklin started the 2001 and 2002 seasons in the bullpen, but in 2002 he moved into the starting rotation. He is expected to be the #4 starter for Seattle in 2003. In 2002 he set career high in wins, innings pitched and games played. He made first start of Major League career April 23 vs. Anaheim, recording his second win of the season with a 1-0 gem. He retired 15 of 16 batters faced, throwing 51 strikes in 68 pitches. He proved that he could take the role of a starter, and had an excellent 2002 season posting a 4.02 ERA> Ryan lives in Spiro, Oklahoma with his wife Angie and their children Logan and Kaylin. He graduated from Spiro HS in 1991 and was an all-state selection in baseball He was named to JC All-America squad in 1993. |
