Good Night Angel
"Can't we all just get along?" Samantha said as she ran in on Brittany and Wufei in the training room. "Don't bother us…" Wufei said "Yea, this is personal." Brittany said, her eyes narrowing. "Damnit! Won't you two just leave each other alone?" Samantha yelled again before running out of the room. "Looks like she's fed up with you Wufei." Brittany stated with an exaggerated kick. "Don't make me too mad, I might try to hurt you." Wufei said with an added punch that Brittany barely blocked. "Okay you two, Back off!" Duo said holding Wufei back with the help of Heero and Quatre. "You two should stop fighting like this." Alisha said trying to keep Brittany down with Samantha and Stefanie. " Ya'll afraid I might kick his sorry little rump?" Brittany said with a smile. " You couldn't kick my rump if I was sitting with it waiting for you!" Wufei snarled.
Samantha walked out of the room, after calming Brittany and Wufei down, followed by everyone else. "I can't believe it… that's the third time today." Duo said wrapping an arm around Samantha. "I don't understand those two… they would make a cute couple, if they didn't fight so much." Samantha said. "I know… what's up with those two?" Alisha said walking up with them, Quatre catching up. "Maybe they actually like each other, and are scared of it." Quatre added. "Good idea, but I don't think it would work out like that… they'd have to break down sometime." Samantha said.
Brittany was trying to catch her breath from fighting everyone to kill Wufei. Wufei was on the other side of the room suffering the same effects. Brittany thought about getting up and trying to fight him again. She got up and looked over at the slowly recovering Wufei. / Man, he looks so cute when he's all sweaty like that. / Her eyes widened after she realized what she thought. But of course she couldn't argue… she couldn't help herself, she'd been having little thoughts like that for a few days now. She almost lost her breath again when Wufei stood up and removed his large white shirt, showing his tank top underneath. / Man, he's more muscular than he looked at first, that shirt clings to him so well… Wait?!?! What am I thinking? / She mentally slapped herself, she couldn't think this way about someone who she fights with so much. Well, she spends more time fighting off her friends than fighting Wufei. She decided it would do her more harm to stay in the room with Wufei, so she left.
Wufei looked over at Brittany as she was leaving, and noting how her tight pants nicely fitted her, and how her shirt brought out her hair and eyes wonderfully. Then when he realized what he was thinking, he shook his head hard and looked away, catching his harsh breath and trying to slow his speeding heart. / This hasn't happened before, not since Meiran and I met… / his eyes narrowed and he walked out of the room, going the same way as her, outside. He felt like finishing their fight.
Brittany walked over to the lake and sat down. Every time she got some time alone like this, HE would show up. She wondered what it would be like to have him show up one time, and instead of challenging her to a fight, to hold her and whisper that he loved her in her ear. /WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!?!/ She mentally slapped herself again for that thought. Wufei didn't like her at all, if anything, she would be better off if he wasn't around her. "That's it!" She said aloud. If she admitted her attraction to him, he would think her too weak to fight! Then he wouldn't want to have anything to do with her! That would give her the time necessary to get over him! "What's what woman?" Wufei said as he walked up behind her. The minute she heard his voice she felt weak… how could she tell him? She shook off the thought and continued to ignore him. "Well? I gave you permission to speak, so speak." He said egotistically. "It's none of you damn business." She said bluntly as she stood up and began to walk off. Wufei grabbed Brittany's arm and wouldn't let go thought. "Tell me. Then I might let you go… Or fight me." He whispered into her ear.
The way he whispered sent shivers up her spine, but she stayed strong. She wouldn't let him control her. "I don't want to tell you, and I don't want to fight…So you're fucked" She said bluntly, not looking at him. He blinked twice, then regained his normal stance. "Fine, then I'll kick your ass without you fighting back." He replied "Are you that dishonorable to do such a thing boy?" She said, her voice wavering.
"Don't talk to me about honor, you're just a woman." He said, his voice getting louder. "Why? Because we are nothing but emotional baggage scent to this life to weigh men down?" She said. "Woman! I'll-."
"You'll what? You are the one who wanted to fight me. So why do you call me weak? If I were weak, You wouldn't want to fight me. Right?" She asked. Wufei couldn't answer, so she continued. "Well I'm weak… I thought of you as more than my opponent. I think of you as a man I could love… in other words… I have a crush on you… You happy? You win. I lose. I'm weak. So LEAVE ME ALONE!" She said as she pulled her arm from him and walked off. /She what?/ He thought to himself. /She likes me? No…no…NO!/ he yelled over and over in his mind. /I did it again. What now?/ He thought to himself. He couldn't go near her… She didn't want him near her. He just wanted to test her fighting skills… and now look. She's in love with him? He thought she'd hate him now. "Oh no." He said aloud, yet quietly as he thought of what could happen next.
/10 days without Wufei… I'm still the same way. What's wrong with me?/ Brittany thought to herself as she lay on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. /I'll never get over him like this. Maybe I have to get away from him completely…No, distance brings lovers closer together. I can't leave this place; I have to stay near him./ She repeated the last over and over again. What would she do now? She still felt strongly about him, but she didn't want to. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. She got up and opened it. "Yo Brittany, wanna go to the lake with us?" Duo asked as Samantha stood behind him, holding his left hand in her right. "Sure, I need something to do. Let me get ready. I'll meet you out in the Main hall, alright?" She asked. They said yes and walked off. Brittany grabbed a towel and put her swimsuit on…
"Wow Brittany, You look great!" Duo complemented as Brittany walked down in her summer dress. "Why thank you Duo, but I don't want you to make Samantha jealous just yet." Brittany laughed as she jumped past the last 3 steps. "I'm not jealous, I know Duo loves me more than you." Samantha joked as she walked up by Duo and hugged him from behind. "Yea, Samantha's my one and only Juliet." He said as he pulled her in and hugged her back. "You two scare me sometimes. Hey, Where's Quatre and Alisha?" Brittany said. "Oh, Quatre took her shopping. It's her birthday." Samantha said. "Really? I need to get her a present then!" Brittany said as she walked out to the lake with Duo and Samantha.
Heero and Stefanie were already sitting on the beach when they got there, and Wufei was doing laps in the water. /Oh man… I hoped he wouldn't be here./ She thought to herself. She decided to ignore him best she could. She laid her blanket down and took off her sundress. "Brittany? When did you get that bathingsuit?" Samantha asked. "Two days ago, remember, we went shopping together, I saw it, and I had to have it!" Brittany smirked. "Oh yea, why couldn't I remember that?" Samantha said hitting her forehead in exclamation. "You going swimming to?" Brittany asked. "Sure why not?" Samantha replied. Duo said he'd wait a little bit before getting in… He just ate. "Suit yourself." Samantha said as she exposed her own bathingsuit as walked to the water with Brittany.
Wufei didn't realize that Brittany had come down to the beach until he heard two women laughing. The he did the stupidest thing… He looked. He nearly drowned from shock. Brittany was wearing a black string bikini. She looked absolutely gorgeous. He wished he hadn't agreed to go to the lake with Heero. He knew he'd regret it. Stefanie had her stereo on and had it on a song by Savage Garden called Universe. That didn't make it any better, since it was a slow sensual song. He had no idea what to do, but he did another stupid thing, He swam to shore. He was about to get out when he saw the look on Brittany's face.
"He looks like he saw a ghost. And he's staring at me!" She thought, then laughed to herself as she realized she was wearing a very small bikini. She whispered something to Samantha and then proceeded to step into the water. /Men, always thinking hormonally/ She thought to herself again as she splashed Samantha.
Wufei thought again about getting out of the water as he saw her get wet. /Oh man, I knew something bad would come from this./ He swam farther out into the water again and went under, to the colder water.
"Hey, where'd Wufei go?" Samantha asked. "Who cares. I'm glad to get that selfish bastard back for all the trouble he caused me." Brittany snapped quietly. "Trouble? What are you talking about Brittany? He hasn't done anything to you!" Samantha said. "He wouldn't leave me alone. Then he forced me to have a damn crush on him, and he thinks nothing of it!" Brittany said. "Man, I never thought. Did you tell him?" She asked. "Yes. Then I yelled at him and told him to leave me alone." Brittany replied.
"Why?" She asked. "So I could get over him." She said, then she went under the water. Samantha watched her from near the shore. /She had a crush on him, then yelled at him so she could get over him? What's up with that? She should go and try to get him to like her. To repay the favor./ Samantha knew all well how to do that. When Duo tried to self detonate, it was pure luck the button was dysfunctional, and only blasted a small amount of the true ammunition. She had yelled at him for doing it numerous times, but now she was over it… and in love. She still felt sorry for the fact that Quatre wouldn't go out with her at all, but it wasn't his fault. He just didn't like her. Still, she couldn't let those two alone, but she noticed Duo was getting antsy. She got out of the lake and went to sit by him.
Even the cold of the lake water couldn't suppress his crush. /Crush wasn't a good enough word, I'm lusting for her!/ He thought. He came up again and saw that Brittany was closer to him than before. His hunger grew intensely as she looked over to him.
/Man! He looks even better wet!/ Brittany thought as she saw him coming up for air. She shook the thought out of her head, then realized he was staring at her. She blushed under the view, but what he did next surprised her more than him seeing her blush.
He couldn't stand it anymore. He had to touch her, kiss her. He knew he was risking his life, but now he didn't care. Out of the corner of his eye, Everyone was laying back, tanning or talking. He went under water and swam over to her. She was definitely surprised as he surfaced right in front of her. "Wha-,"
She tried to say as he roughly kissed her. She remained limp for a minute, then began to push him away. He couldn't let her go… Not yet.
/I couldn't let him do this to me! He's destroying my life!/ She thought as she tried to push him off, but the more she pushed, the harder he held her. She kept pushing; She couldn't let him win again. When he finally let her push him off, She stared at him in defiance. "What the fuck was that for!" She said trying to mask her fury. "I… Uh… I'm sorry." He said simply. "Sorry…YOU'RE FUCKING SORRY!" She almost screamed, gaining the attention from everyone. She didn't care now; he pushed his luck way too far.
"Great, I knew I shouldn't have let those two alone." Samantha said as she jumped up. By this time Quatre and Alisha had returned to see the whole thing.
Wufei watched as Brittany swam back to shore, He followed shortly after, but he kept his distance for the time being. He knew she was pissed at him, but he had to kiss her, just to see what it was like.
When Brittany reached shore, he hesitated before walking out.
She tried to calm herself for the last time. There was a tree standing next to her. She thought about punching it. But Samantha got to her before she had a chance to think. "Brittany, are you alright Brittany?" Samantha's words blurred together. She had to do something to calm herself down. Just then Wufei walked up behind her and began to talk. "Listen Brittany, I really didn't mean it… I am sorry, if it will make you feel better I'll leave." He said. The anger bubbled up inside of her, sending everything into a blur. She turned around and slapped Wufei.
Wufei was stunned at Brittany's course of action, slapping him hard. "What the hell were you thinking? Do you think I would let you use me like that? God Damnit, at first you treat me like dirt, you constantly challenge me, I tell you I had a crush on you to make you think I'm weak, hoping you would stay away from me, and 10 days later you go and do this? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO FUCKING DO?!?!" Brittany then stormed off, leaving him there with everyone looking at him suspiciously. He felt his throat began to choke. She wanted him to leave her alone… He'll leave her alone… He grabbed his bag and began walking through the woods. When he got far enough, he dropped to the ground, and started to cry. /What the hell has she done to me?/ He thought as he desperately tried to stop the tears.
"Oh god." Samantha said as she stared behind Brittany. "Man, I had no idea they were THAT bad." Duo said. "What now?" Stefanie asked. "We ignore it." Heero said bluntly. "Fine, we ignore it… and what if one of them pulls off what Duo tried to do?" Samantha yelled at Heero. "Thanks Samantha." Samantha apologized to Duo and continued, "We've got to watch them closely, to prevent something bad from happening." Samantha finished. "I'll go after Wufei." Quatre said. "I'll go after Brittany." Samantha said as she ran to the house.
In Brittany's room, There is a single person, rummaging frantically through drawers of cloths, throwing many onto her bed. She then went over, and packed them into the duffel bag she had prepared.
"Brittany?" Samantha said walking into the room. "What." She replied. "What's up? Are you okay?" She asked. "Fine." Brittany replied as she grabbed up her bag and walked out past Samantha. "What are you doing?" Samantha asked. "I'm going. There was a mission for me. I must do it. I'll be back soon." She said continuing, leaving Samantha behind. "Just don't kill yourself." Samantha whispered closing Brittany's door behind her.
After Wufei stopped the storm of tears, he decided it would be best for him to leave the earth and hang out in space for a while. Quatre ran in on him just as he was about to leave. "Wufei! Where are you going?" Quatre asked as he ran up to Wufei. "I'm going to space. I'll be back soon enough." Wufei replied. "You can't leave yet! It's not right!" Quatre said. "Why? Stay behind so Brittany can kill me? I don't think so." Wufei said. "Since when have you been afraid of a woman?" Duo said walking up behind Quatre. "Since I met Brittany." Wufei said as he closed the door to the cockpit. The two men ran back as the gundam began to lift off. "That didn't help much." Quatre said. "Let's just pray that he doesn't kill himself."
When all of them met up in the main hall, they found out both of them had left. "What are we going to do now?" Samantha said. "I don't think we can do anything." Alisha said hugging Quatre tighter. "It'll be alright." Quatre comforted. "We should get on with out them." Heero said. Everyone gave Heero mean looks. "C'mon, he's right, we have no choice but to get along without them. We can't go after them without risking ours, and their lives." Stefanie said, standing up for her boyfriend.
"Okay, it's been a week, and nothing has happened… I'm getting worried for Brittany." Samantha said leaning back on Duo on the living room couch. "I know, We need to do something, but we can't with out risking their lives." Duo replied. "Don't worry, they'll be back soon. For now, let's go out for Ice Cream." Stefanie said as she walked in with Heero. "Cool idea, I'm in the mood for ice cream anyway." Duo said as Samantha sat up, letting him stretch. "Alright, I'm driving." Heero said smiling at Stefanie. "Oh no… I'm driving." Stefanie replied jokingly.
"Thanks Quatre… It's beautiful!" Alisha said sweetly as she picked up the white teddy bear. "It's nothing. I was hoping you'd like it." Quatre said blushing. "I love it… like I love you." Alisha replied kissing Quatre on the cheek. "Awww. You didn't have to…" Quatre said, his face turning a deep shake of red.
"Well, there you are, my Arabian prince." Captain Paggitt of the OZ- Stormers said looking at the paperwork. "That little brat Alisha Karrington isn't going to be with you much longer, my beautiful blond baby." Paggitt laughed out.
"Where is everyone?" Alisha asked as she walked out of the room and into the main hall. "I don't know, where is everyone?" Quatre repeated. "Their gone." A mysterious female figure said as she stepped out of the darkness. "What do you want!" Quatre yelled to the assailant. "What does it look like? I want you…isn't that too much to ask?" Captain Paggitt said sweetly, yet seductively. "I don't want anything to do with you OZ scum. I have someone… so BACK OFF!" Quatre screamed. "You see, I don't like that idea, I ALWAYS get what I want… and right now I want you." She said even sweeter as she pulled out a gun and fired. Quatre's eyes opened wide as he realized what happened. He grabbed Alisha as she fell to the ground. "Alisha? Why did you do it?" He asked as the tears filled his aqua eyes. "Quatre…I didn't want you to die yet… there's so much you must see……Don't worry, I'll be happy where I'm going… I know I will be able to watch you. I love you…Quatre…Goodnight, my angel." With those last words, her breath was spent and her eyelashes closed. "Alisha, why did you…no…NO!" He yelled as he pulled out his gun and shot at Paggitt. She dodged the 1st 7 bullets, but the next one hit her square in the forehead, sending blood shooting right before Quatre. As her body lay sprawled out on the floor, Duo and Samantha ran in… "Quatre, what the hell happened?" Samantha yelled out as she ran to Quatre. "Sam, I don't… I can't believe it. She died for me… Why?" He asked absently as he looked down at the body. "Quatre, I'm sorry… I should have been here sooner…" Samantha stammered. "I won't believe it!" Quatre screamed like he never had before. He ran out of the room, and into the night, cold and unforgiving. He wouldn't stop running, not even for Samantha's screams as they followed him into the world. He ran to the lake, and to the spot where he and Alisha first kissed. He dropped to his knees and looked up to the heavens above. He finally realized the horrible truth… He couldn't save them… first his father, and now Alisha. She was so innocent…so pure. And now she was dead. "No…no. She isn't dead, she can't be." Quatre thought as he finally let the tears flow…
"So Quatre, you feeling better?" Samantha asked as she walked in on Quatre in his bed. "Cold's getting better. I'll be fine. "I know that… but what about Alisha, I know I shouldn't bring it up but-." Quatre raised his hand up "No, I understand why she died… I just don't understand why I deserved to be saved though." He said quietly. "Uh Quatre my man, You have a visitor…" Duo said sticking his head into the room. "Alright…Send him in." He said. "Well, it's a her, and I don't know if you want to see her right now." Duo said cautiously. "I'm fine…don't worry about me." Quatre said. "If you say so." Duo replied as he opened the door completely. Alisha walked through, aided by a cane, her left arm bandaged.
"Alisha!" Quatre yelled as he jumped out of bed and to Alisha. He didn't tackle her, as she would have him. He stopped right in front of her. "I thought…" His voice trailed off as he remembered the fateful moment of her apparent demise. "I know, I thought I did too, Duo rushed me to the hospital, and here I am, I'm sorry for scaring you like that… I really thought I would die." She said, a single tear forming in her eye. "I don't care, I'm just glad to have you back." He pulled her into his arms and just held her, and for an instance he saw himself, settled down with this blond beauty, but it quickly passed as he focused on the room where his love had almost literally come back to him from death.
The next day everything seemed to be back to normal when Brittany returned from her mission. Wufei returned later on that day. Brittany seemed to be over Wufei, but Wufei continually watched her. Everyone knew that those two were not going anywhere near a relationship soon…
