Part III
Roses at Dusk.
"Wufei, Brittany. Will you two stop it… I said STOP IT!" Stefanie yelled as she ran in on their `sparing` session. Heero ran in behind her and held Wufei, while Stefanie held Brittany. "C'mon, I was really kicking his butt!" Brittany complained, trying to struggle free of Stefanie's grasp. "Yea right, you were no where near." Wufei said, having trouble breaking free from Heero. "You both should stop trying to outdo each other." Heero said. Wufei and Brittany were both calmed down after 20 minutes of fighting, and yelling, in other words, they were both exhausted. "Can you get it through your head that you two shouldn't be fighting right now?" Stefanie said still alert just in case Brittany, or Wufei decided to get up and go at it again. Heero was being just as cautious. " I don't see what you have against it." Brittany said. "Look at you, you're exhausted." Stefanie said. "That's because we were trying to get out of your grasps." Wufei said. "Then don't fight us." Heero said. "Gee, you don't get it. We get our kicks out of fighting each other… it's not like we are totally in love or anything, it's just we HATE EACH OTHER!" Brittany finished. She then stood up and walked out of the room. Stefanie looked over at Heero, and shrugged. Wufei still sat, with his back to everyone, like usual. Heero walked over to Stefanie, and motioned for her to go with him. She nodded and walked out the room behind him.
"I just don't get those two." Stefanie said once they reached the lake. "It's something else… they both like each other, but their too afraid to admit It." Stefanie had to admit it, Heero was right. "Then why do they both fight? I mean, I know, afraid to admit it… but what if one of them gets tired of the fighting and wants something more out of it? This will result in major heartbreak." Heero gently held Stefanie's hand, comforting her. "We'll just have to wait and see, we have no choice but to wait it out." Heero said. He pulled up Stefanie's finger, to reveal a diamond engagement ring. He straitened it on her finger, then put his hand down. "What about us? When should we tell the others?" Stefanie asked. "Not yet… Just wait till everything calms down. Heero asked Stefanie to marry him yesterday, you figure out how ;)
Samantha ran out to see the two. She looked awfully distressed. "What's wrong Sam?" Stefanie asked. "Duo's missing, and he left me this note." Samantha said handing the paper to Stefanie. It was on a fairly crumpled piece of paper, written in dull blue ink. It stated:
Dear Samantha,
I apologize for any inconvenience I have caused you over these two days. I hope in the future you will come to understand the reason why I decided to leave this life. I felt incomplete without you, in any other case I wouldn't be so in love, but then, you're not an ordinary girl. I felt the need to be with you, but you preferred the likes of Quatre to me, I constantly annoyed you, in my attempts to gain your affection. I am sorry, please forgive me.
Duo.
Stefanie looked up from the paper, which Heero was looking at over her shoulder. They all ran to the hanger to find a shuttle to hopefully catch up with Duo.
Brittany and Wufei had just ran out in time to see them running, they looked over at each other, then decided to run after, thinking something had happened with the OZ- Stormers.
When they got to the hanger, Heero was just getting it started up, and Stefanie and Samantha were loading all their mobile suits. "What's going on?" Brittany asked. "Duo's going to kill himself, because of ME!" Samantha yelled back desperately. Brittany's eyes widened, then went back to normal. "I'll inform Quatre that you've left, I won't say why though." Brittany said placing a comforting hand on Samantha's shoulder. "Thanks." She replied and went back to putting the suit onto the shuttle. Brittany went back to the door of the hanger and to where Wufei was standing. "What's going on?" Wufei asked a little tired. "Duo's gone bat shit psycho." Brittany said plainly as she walked out past him.
The shuttle lifted off, and Brittany watched with sorrowful eyes. "You didn't tell me the exact reason Duo went Bat shit psycho… quoting your earlier description." Wufei said walking up behind her. "Samantha had no idea, she was so blind to his feelings…" Brittany said quietly. "Feelings?" Wufei asked.
"Remember earlier, when I said Samantha had Duo's heart on a golden platter, but she was to interested in getting the Arabian prince to go out with her to notice?" Brittany said looking up at the Chinese man standing by her. "Yea, he finally broke?" Wufei replied. "Yea, he's going to kill himself, and Samantha feels wholly responsible. This isn't good." Brittany said. "So they are going to find him?" Wufei asked. "Yea, Samantha is actually very innocent for all she's been through, she'd die if someone killed themselves because of her." Brittany said. Now they were walking along the beach, walking quietly towards the other shore. Wufei didn't notice the small outfit Brittany was wearing up until that time. She was wearing a tight black skirt, and a black skin tight tank top, with a plain white unbuttoned shirt tied at the front. Wufei was wearing his usual garments, his overly large white shirt, and baggy white karate pants. "I hope they find him." Brittany said, breaking the silence. "Yea." Wufei replied. Not much of a reply… huh? Quatre came walking out of the house, with his head bent low. He saw Brittany and Wufei walking together, and wondered if they were done fighting and had made up, even become good friends. "Hey Quatre." Brittany said noticing he looked especially down. "Where did everyone go?" Quatre asked. "They went on a little trip." Brittany replied.
It took an hour to find the DeathScythe. It was flying over the woods, where detonation wouldn't destroy any towns. He saw the shuttle following behind him, and he actually believed it was an OZ shuttle. "You bastards… You can't catch me!" He yelled as he flew back towards the mistaken craft.
Heero was the first to see the gundam flying back to the plane, Scythe in hand and ready to destroy the shuttle. They all got into their own gundams and departed just before Duo struck. Samantha was the 1st one out.
Duo saw the Silver Starstreak exiting out of the back of the large shuttle just before he sliced the cockpit of the craft off. "Samantha?" Duo asked in a slight daze. "Hey Duo, what's up?" Samantha said over the intercom. "Don't come near me, get away, I need to do this." Duo said flying further away. Samantha was having trouble catching up with the DeathScythe. "DUO!" Samantha yelled over the intercom after Duo hit his self-destruct button. The malfunction sign went up in the small corner of one of the view screens, and before Duo could fix the problem with the detonation system, a blast of smoke hit him in the face, knocking him unconcious.
Samantha saw the whole thing. Heero and Stefanie flew back behind her, and they saw Duo's gundam explode. "Something's wrong, it didn't self-destruct right." Heero said over the intercom. "Brittany, come in!" Stefanie yelled over the intercom. "Yea, I hear you, where's your present local." Brittany replied. "Were about 200 miles southeast of the estate, Duo's gundam didn't explode all the way, he might still be alive." Brittany said she would have the plane there in 10 minutes.
Samantha jumped out of her gundam and ran for the slightly destroyed gundam. It had fallen down after 3 separate explosions occurred. Unfortunately one was way to close to the cockpit. She opened it to find Duo, unconcious, but alive, laying in the chair. His hair out of it's braid and flowing freely behind him.
Samantha had hauled him out with the help of Heero by the time the shuttle plane had reached them. Brittany and Wufei had both jumped out and were running to them. "Is he alright?" Brittany asked when she reached them. "He's alive, but he's unconcious… we need to get him help." Samantha cried. "There are medical supplied on the shuttle, and I contacted Sally Po." Wufei said running up behind Brittany. "Thanks." Heero said as he took Duo away from Samantha, who got into her gundam, and picked up the DeathScythe. "I thought the trouble was over for now." Stefanie said getting the first aid kit out of a compartment.
By the time they all returned to the estate, Duo was awake, and in major pain. "Duo, don't move, you'll only hurt yourself even more." Brittany exclaimed. "Where's Samantha?" Duo asked. "She's out there, in the Starstreak. She's carrying your gundam back to the hanger." Brittany answered. "I didn't want to live… What happened?" Duo asked, tears slowly streaming out of his violet eyes. "Don't worry, you'll be alright now… You have to understand Samantha, she is sometimes narrow minded. And you may feel she hates you, but in fact she's paying more attention to the goal she wants… She would have looked to you in the long run, but that was the stupidest way to get her attention. You should know she wouldn't be able to handle the stress of you killing yourself because of her… she would have gone insane, or killed herself as well." Brittany stopped and drew in 3 long breaths, to calm herself down. "You would have made us all sad." She added calmly. "I… I had no Idea, I'm sorry." Duo said softly as his eyes closed and he fell asleep. "You just rest." Brittany whispered as she kissed his forehead, and walked back to the cockpit of the plane. "What's his present status?" Wufei asked at the pilot's controls. Brittany sat down in the Co-pilots' chair. "He's asleep and resting comfortably now. He really wanted her to notice him… its sad." Brittany said. "That's all I needed to know." Wufei replied curtly.
With everyone gone, Quatre felt lonely and bored. He decided to walk through town, which was something he enjoyed doing more than most. The streets were semi-Crowded, and the stores all shone with bright and colorful displays. He ignored most of this and walked on to the town park. The park was filled with lovers of all kinds. He felt lonely once more, and thought about how he yelled at Samantha, and her reaction. / Why was I so rude? I shouldn't have yelled at her in such a way. It was unorthodox. But she did annoy me and pester me that entire day. Still I hate to seem so rude… Even on my birthday./
Quatre thought as he stood in front of the lake. "Beautiful day, isn't it?" A female voice said behind Quatre. "Yes. Very beautiful." Quatre replied, not really paying attention. "I wonder what would happen if a war ever took place here, it would probably be devastating, right?" The girl continued to ask. Now Quatre was aware of the girl, who was standing beside him, apparently as lost as himself. "Yes… Wars are very dreadful. I should know." He replied, the last spoken softly. "Really? Were you in a war?" The girl asked, looking over at him for the first time. "Yes… I was." Quatre replied. "You seem very young. You must feel lost now." The girl said. Quatre looked over at her. She was blond, and had bright green eyes. She seemed to illuminate with a beautiful aura. "Who are you?" Quatre asked. "I'm Alisha. Alisha Karrington. You are?" She asked holding out her hand to shake his own. "Quatre Rebaba Winner. It's a pleasure." He said, taking her hand firmly and shaking it. "Winner? Your family owns that colony, Don't you?" She asked. "Yes. But my father died. So my sisters are taking care of it." He said. "Must be sad for you. My mother died when I was born. I don't know though. It might be similar." She said. "My mother died when I was very young too." Quatre replied. "Do you want some Ice cream?" She asked, smiling. "Thanks." Quatre said. Alisha took his hand and walked/dragged him over to an Ice cream stand. "Two please." She said. The person nodded and pulled out two cones and put ice cream on them. Quatre went to get some money out of his wallet, but Alisha stopped him. "My treat." She said and brought a 10 out of her purse. She collected her change and walked back to Quatre. "Thanks… but I could have paid for it." Quatre said. "No problem, You're not the only rich person in these parts, you know." She said laughing. Then it hit him. Alisha Karrington, daughter of the rich aristocrat Macrious Karrington. "Your Macrious' daughter, right?" Quatre asked. "Uh huh, that I am." She replied.
"Duo? Hey Duo are you alright?" Samantha said quietly as she sat a tray of soup down at his bed side. "Samantha?" Duo said. "Yea, it's me." Samantha replied. "I'm sorry. I had no idea, Please forgive me, I'm so sorry Sam, I didn't mean to-." Samantha cut off his words by placing a finger to his lips. "Shhh, I forgive you. You need rest right now. I brought you something to eat." Samantha said. Duo nodded and tried to pull himself up, but Samantha decided to help after she noticed he was in too much pain. After they got him situated, she brought the soup tray over and sat it on the bed in front of him. Duo smiled warily and began to eat little by little.
Meanwhile:
"Wufei, Brittany…Where are they?" Stefanie said walking through the house. "You want something?" Wufei asked, walking out of the library. Book in hand. "Is Brittany in there?" Stefanie asked.
"No. And I'm glad she's not in here." Wufei replied as he went back into the library. "Good, at least they aren't fighting again." Stefanie thought as she walked through the front door.
Brittany was sitting on a large rock out looking the lake. She was thinking about her present relationship with Wufei, sure it seemed like they were constantly at ends with each other, but she could count the numerous times they set their hatred aside and talked as equals. / I'm sure he doesn't realize I'm just like Duo… I want to be with Wufei, but he doesn't want to be with me. What will I do? I can't go off and kill myself like Duo did. Oh man./ Stefanie saw Brittany staring out into the water, and sat down beside her. "Hey, I was looking for you, I thought you and Wufei would be fighting again." She said. "I just don't feel like fighting right now. I want to think." Brittany said, pulling her knees up under her chin. "Can you imagine what would have happened if Duo's detonation button actually worked? He would be dead, Samantha would be physically and mentally injured, and we would all go through self incriminating stages where we would all most likely go crazy!" Brittany said, taking in breaths. "I didn't know you felt that way." Stefanie said. "No one does. That's why my life is so secretive." Brittany said, jumping down from the rock. "Brittany?" Stefanie asked. "What?" Brittany replied. "Do you really hate Wufei?" She asked, jumping down from the rock herself. "You really want to know the answer? It's no. I don't hate Wufei, I actually like him a lot. More than I care to say right now." Brittany said walking up to the house. "Really? Then why do you let him fight you?" Stefanie replied. "D'know. Maybe I'm just trying to give him what he wants." Brittany said. "What's that?" Stefanie asked opening the front door. "A good fight…" Brittany smiled genuinely. "Sometimes I don't understand you." Stefanie laughed as they walked into the front living room. "I don't understand myself either…Uh, is Wufei anywhere near here?" Brittany asked, becoming unsure. "No, Last I saw him, he was in the library." Stefanie replied. "Great… So Stefanie, when did Heero pop the question?" Brittany asked. Stefanie turned around, quite surprised. "Don't think I wouldn't notice the engagement ring." Brittany said with a wicked smile. "Well, yesterday night. I really don't want to go into details though." Stefanie said blushing. "Fine then, I just wanted to know when. Don't tell Heero I know though, I'm sure he still wants to keep it a secret."
"What secret?" Samantha asked when she walked into the room. "Nothing. Just a little discussion. You should keep a mind on your own business… speaking of which, how's Duo?" Brittany asked. "Oh he's fine, he is sleeping like a baby." Samantha replied. "Are you alright Samantha?" Stefanie asked. "Yea, just a little worried, how could someone do something so hasty at a time like this… OZ is about ready to attack again. We might have to head out." Samantha explained. "I know, I better get back to my gundam." Brittany said. "Same here. Want to start tomorrow morning? Bright and early. It's too late right now." Stefanie said walking out of the room. "Good night!" She said winking at the two girls. "So I guess you and Wufei have made up." Samantha said. "What makes you think that?" Brittany asked. "C'mon, don't tell me you didn't notice how well you two worked together." Samantha said. "Whatever… Hey, where's Quatre?" Brittany asked. Just then the front door shut closed, and the sound of two laughing people filled the great hall. The girls looked at each other, and ran out of the room.
Quatre was surprised to see anyone up this late. "Did I wake you two up?" He asked. "No, we were discussing Duo's condition… nothing much." Samantha said, then blushing when she realized what she said, because Quatre became worried. "What happened to Duo? Is he alright?!?!" Samantha was busy trying to tell him Duo was alright, and Brittany was studying the young girl Quatre brought home with him. "I'm Lieutenant General Brittany Love, you are?" She asked putting a hand out. "Alisha Karrington. You with the Galactic Space Forces?" She asked. "Sure am. Your Macrious' daughter, right?" Brittany questioned. "True. What are you doing out here?" Alisha asked. "It was Quatre's Birthday today. He's the sweet 16." Brittany said smiling. "Really, I didn't know it was his birthday." Alisha said, looking questionably over at Quatre, who had finally made Samantha spill the beans. "WHAT? You mean he tried to kill himself?!?! Why would he do that?" Quatre yelled. "Well, You see…" Samantha started. "Quatre, Don't worry, Duo's fine, don't ask any more questions Quatre, Samantha wouldn't be able to handle what had happened." Brittany said defending the grateful Samantha. "Why did he go out of his way to self detonate?" Quatre asked again. "We can't explain it right now… you wouldn't be able to handle it." Brittany said. Quatre stopped asking any more questions. "I'll go see him right now… Alisha, do you want to come?" Quatre asked. "Actually, I wouldn't mind entertaining her. You know, get to know your new girlfriend." Brittany said. "Oh, we aren't dating." Alisha said. "I've got to talk to you about something. Just hold on." Brittany whispered. Alisha nodded and smiled at Quatre. "Don't worry about me." She said. Quatre nodded and walked up the stairs. Brittany waited till he walked into Duo's room before telling Alisha why she held her back. "I thought you'd like to help us surprise Quatre tonight. We've been planing a little surprise party for him out by the lake. I hope you've got a bathing suit." Brittany winked. "Really? Didn't he have a party already?" Alisha asked. "Yea, but it was way too boring, so we all decided on throwing another party later on." Samantha said for Brittany. "And my part in this is?" Alisha asked. "You have to lure him away from the lake for an hour tops." Brittany said. "We hope to be done by 8." Samantha said. "Okay, it's 6:30 right now, so You have and hour and a half to do all this." Alisha said looking down on her watch. "Cool Beans. So it's a deal?" Samantha said. "Yep." Alisha said, smiling largely.
"Hey, is Quatre gone?" Stefanie whispered as she looked out her door. "Yea, get the stuff and let's go!" Samantha said. Stefanie nodded and brought a big bag of things, and they all went out the side door, all except for Heero, he wanted to watch. "So, you never told me if you brought a bathingsuit." Brittany asked. "Actually yes, I was planning on going to the beach anyway, so I wore one. But Quatre distracted me, which was a good thing." Alisha said. "Alright then, I've got the wicker polls up. What now?" Samantha asked. "We get the table set up and get out all the goodies." Brittany replied. "So, you want to start your job?" Samantha asked. "Yea, I'll go in now." Alisha replied as she ran into the house.
Alisha opened the door, and saw Duo and Quatre talking glumly. "Did I come in at a bad time?" Alisha asked, about to just close the door and wait outside. "No, come in." Quatre said. "This is the girl you chose over Sam?" Duo asked, a deathly glare bubbling up in his eyes. "Oh, We met in the park today, I'm Alisha, You must be Duo. I'm sorry about what happened to you. Are you alright?" She asked. "Fine." Duo said rather harshly. "Oh, um… Maybe I should go outside for now." She said, backing slowly up towards the door. "No, It's alright, isn't it Duo." Quatre said, pinning him with his own death stare. "Sure, fine. Sorry." He said and looked away. "You know, My father returns tomorrow, Maybe I could take you to the fair or something… Just to have fun." Alisha said, trying to keep Duo from trying to kill her. "No thanks… Rather not." Duo replied. "Fine. So, What's up for tonight?" Alisha asked. Trying to keep her conversation alive. "I don't know… What do you want to do?" Quatre asked. I'm not sure. I really haven't thought about it." She replied. "Oh Brother… Quatre, why don't you take her out, you know, to dinner?" Duo asked, eager to get her out of his hair for now. Duo happens to also be in on the surprise party. Quatre smiled, and said okay… "I have a better Idea, Let's go to the park, I heard there was something going on over there. We can come back here later to eat." Alisha stated. She winked at Duo, signifying that she did know what they all were up to. "Even better!" Quatre said. "We'll be back later. Duo was surprised, and nodded, smiling slightly. / Maybe he won't hate me now./ She thought as she led Quatre out of the room. She looked out over the halls, No one around. "So Quatre, What's it like to live in a mansion with a dozen other people to care for?" Alisha asked, loud enough so everyone could hear her. "I don't know, It's fun, thought I really don't mind them, they can care for themselves, sometimes." Quatre said. "Well, I didn't say it in front of Duo, but there's a cute couples contest at the park… I thought we could go and watch." Alisha said. "Sounds like fun… I don't know though. I wouldn't want to enter." Quatre said sarcastically. "I know, I know. You don't have to tell me that." Alisha said as they walked out of the house. I didn't say it before, but the beach is on the side of the house… Everyone just like walking around front. ^^; They walked along the street, up to the town, which was only a few blocks away from the estate. When they reached the park, Alisha checked her watch. 7:00. She was told to have him back by eight. The contest would last 30 minutes… which would give them half an hour to head back to the house. She was staying at her own place, since her father was out of town on business. "Are you sure you don't want to enter… just as a joke?" Alisha asked. "Not really…Sorry." Quatre said. "Alright… let's go, they're starting." She said as she pulled Quatre to the front of the group.
"Hurry up! We only have an hour till they come back!" Samantha yelled out at the group, which were hurrying to finish up decorating the lakeside. "We're almost done anyway, C'mon, calm down!" Brittany yelled back. Her and Wufei were trying not to get into another one of their fights, because Heero warned them that if they did, they wouldn't be able to MOVE for the next week and a half. That was enough to keep Brittany and Wufei from even talking to each other. "You now, if ya'll two just talked and worked out your problems, you wouldn't have to be threatened all the time by Heero." Samantha said. "Just don't bother it… leave it alone." Brittany gritted her teeth to keep from going off on her. "She's right. Let's just be friends tonight." Brittany almost dropped the bowl of chips when Wufei said that. "Wha-." That was all she could say at the moment. "You act like you've never heard me talk before." Wufei said with a smile that was different from the smiles he did before. She almost thought it was for her alone. But then she thought again. / Naw, He wouldn't give her a smile at all, even if it was just for looks./ Brittany seriously considered giving Wufei the cold shoulder, then thought again, she didn't want dear Quatre to have to put up with anything else on his birthday. "Fine… if I must." She said finally, regaining her composer, after she found out she was blushing.
/Brittany blushed? And she looked cute doing it?/ Wufei thought as they walked down the stairs. "So, when are we going to start, and when is it going to end?" Brittany asked glumly. "Well, it already started, and it will end tomorrow, just to keep Quatre happy. You can decide when you want to start sparing again." Wufei said. "Hmph, never." Brittany said quietly, but Wufei heard her. "Huh? Why?" Wufei asked. "Just kidding… I really want to teach you a lesson." Brittany said, covering for that. "I really don't think you will be getting that far with me, but still, you can always try." Wufei laughed. "Don't tell me you're already talking about sex, you just got over fighting like cats and dogs!" Duo yelled out loud, He was walking for the first time that day. "Duo…" Brittany warned. "C'mon! Tell me, are ya'll hittin' the sack already?" Duo laughed. "What's with you man! Have you no honor?!?! Of course we are NOT "Hitting the sack" already! We are just getting along so Quatre could have a decent birthday, Which you would probably RUIN!!!" Brittany couldn't believe her eyes… Wufei, standing up for HER? But then, He was being offended as well. "Duo, why are you being so rude? I didn't think you had something against me, if you did I would never have protected you." Brittany said tersely. "I don't have a thing against you Britt. Just trying to have some fun." He protested. "Yea, you can have your fun, just not at the expense of others… Why don't you go over and talk to Samantha, maybe you'll be able to get her to go skinny dipping with you later." Brittany said, smiling wickedly, which actually worried Duo a bit. "C'mon, I honestly don't think that would ever happen." Duo said. "Actually anything could happen if you set your mind to it." Brittany stated. Duo nodded and walked as fast as he could [which wasn't fast at all] over to Samantha, who immediately scolded him for trying to break the two up into fighting again. Then she scolded him on running around like he was, in the state he was in. Duo smiled pitifully, and sat down on a chair beside the yelling Samantha. "Man, you would think SHE was the general of the Galactic Space Force." Brittany mused as she set the bowl down on the table. "Agreed. We need to pronounce mutiny." He replied. "I think that Duo would go BSP on us again if that would happen." Brittany smiled up at Wufei. "You think?" He replied. "Sure… look at how he acts to Samantha's commands." Brittany said, pointing to the smugly sitting Duo. "Hey Samantha!" Brittany yelled. "What?" She asked. "You need to keep Duo company, He seems sad again." Brittany said. Samantha looked down at Duo, who looked up apologetically. She nodded back at Brittany and sat down on a chair next to him, stopping her rein of terror. "Easy as pie." Brittany beamed as she went back into the house for more stuff.
"This is so cool!" Alisha replied as she watched The couples compete for the best spot on the list of Cute Couples. "This is fun." Quatre replied. He had stuffed his hands in his pockets "I wonder what's going on back at the house… They must be so bored, they should have come with us." Quatre said. "Nope, they are probably playing some game they pulled out of your library or something. They could have even gone swimming." Alisha replied. "Well, it is getting late." Quatre said. "What do you mean? It's only 7:30." Alisha replied. "I know, but I just can't shake this feeling that something's going on back at the house, and I'm not there to witness it. "Well, if you really want to go, I'll meet up with you tomorrow." Alisha said mournfully. "Alright, we'll wait till this is done, then we can go back to the house… I'm sure Brittany and Wufei didn't get into THAT much trouble yet."
"C'mon, Don't tell me that this is it!" Samantha asked as she walked around the small table of snacks, and the simple decorations that surrounded the area, keeping away the many bugs that swarm the area until the sun goes completely down. Since they were in the Province of Florida, they didn't have to worry about the nights getting colder, just the days getting hotter. "That's about it… You know Quatre likes things simple." Duo stated. "Really? I guess I never noticed." Samantha replied. "Hey, everyone makes a mistake." Duo said. "Hey you two, Let's get this started… Where's Quatre?" Stefanie asked. "Oh, Alisha took him to the park… they'll be back by 8." Samantha replied. "That's good. At least she came in handy." Heero replied, wrapping his arms around Stefanie's stomach. "Yea." Stefanie said quietly. "Well, I guess we all hang out until they return." Duo said just then Brittany and Wufei came running out from the front of the house. No they were NOT being naughty! ^^ "Hey you guys! Quatre and Alisha are back!" Brittany said when she got to them. "Fine then, All of you, get to the table!" Samantha barked out. Duo was already sitting on the table when the rest got here and sat down.
Quatre and Alisha walked through the front of the house and saw the side slightly lighted. "Hmph… someone must have left a light on." Then he though he didn't HAVE a light by the side of the beach! Alisha smiled to herself as they ran over to the side. "SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled out as Quatre and Alisha stepped out in front of them. Quatre smiled larger than he had that entire week it seemed. "You… You guys did this for me?" Quatre sniffled as he wiped a stray tear from his eye. "Yep buddy, Sorry your party earlier wasn't up to standards… so we decided to have another one!" Duo said from his chair. "Thanks guys…" Quatre said excitedly "You know, I feel a group hug coming on!" Duo said as he got up. Quatre met him over by the table and hugged him, gently. Everyone else walked over. Even Wufei and Brittany did… just for the moment…(Stefanie had to drag Heero.) Alisha was the only one that stood by and watched. When they stopped hugging, Quatre noticed this and walked back over. "I guess you're expecting a hug from me too." Alisha said. "Not if you don't want to-." Before he could finish, Alisha pounced on him, almost knocking him to the ground. That was her way of hugging friends. "So, I hope you have you're swimming trunks!" Stefanie laughed out. Quatre blushed. "I'll go get them." He said running into the house. "So Alisha, What did you do for an hour and a half?" Samantha asked. "We went to the cute couples contest and watched. It was sort of boring, but I talked him into staying. "Cool… Hey, Where are Brittany and Wufei?" Samantha added. "If they got into another fight I'll-." Heero began to say, but then laughter was heard from out in the lake, They all looked to see Brittany and Wufei wrestling in the water, trying to dunk each other. "Oh no…" Stefanie sighed. The two out in the lake saw everyone watching them and they both blushed. Brittany was the first to swim back. Wufei did a couple laps across the lake before swimming in. "You two might just have a chance to be more than enemies." Stefanie whispered into Brittany's ear. "I hope." Brittany whispered back. "Hey! I'm ready!" Quatre yelled as he ran out with a beach towel in a pair of trunks. Everyone was smiling when he ran out. "What… Oh no!" before Quatre could run away, 6 pairs of hand grabbed him and picked him up. Alisha let go only to grab his beach towel as they threw him into the lake. "AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!" Quatre yelled as he surfaced. Everyone laughed and jumped into the water after him… Wufei smiled when he saw everyone having fun. "Hey everyone… SHUT UP!" Stefanie yelled. When everyone stopped, she proceeded to tell them some great news. "Okay, ya'll we have to tell you something." She started, and Heero swam over by her, hugging her from behind. "Heero and I are getting married!" She said, there was a moment of silence, then Brittany hollered, "You go guys!" Everyone, especially Quatre went over to congratulate the couple. Wufei swam over to see what was up. "Stefanie and Heero are engaged." Brittany said with a smile. "Really? It's about time." Wufei replied. "Oh come on!" Brittany said as she splashed the boy. "It's the truth!" He defended. "Sure, whatever!" Brittany laughed as she attempted to dunk Wufei, but he got to her first. When she came up for air, the group seemed to become scared, especially Quatre. "I'll get you back for that Woofy!" She laughed as she began to splash Wufei, who splashed back, laughing. The others breathed a sigh of relief and went back to laughing, duo was laughing and brought out his secret weapon… his super soaker… he aimed it for Brittany and Wufei, but he was hit first by Heero's super soaker, which he had his gun exchanged his gun for. He didn't want to get his precious gun all wet.
When everyone was done and out of the water, Samantha went to complain to Duo about pigging out with all the food, then walk him to his room. Brittany and Wufei decided to go to the library to read, and Heero and Stefanie retired to their room. You don't want to know what they are doing. ;p Quatre and Alisha sat together on the large rock overlooking the lake. "Wow, the sky is so pretty tonight." She said looking up at the sky. "Yea, it's so very beautiful." Quatre replied with a smirk. "But of course it's not as pretty as you… blondy." Alisha smirked. Quatre blushed frantically. Alisha leaned her head on his shoulder, still looking out on the sky. By this time, everyone was situated at the side door, the lights all turned off, and the little spies were waiting for the two to kiss. What they were waiting for soon happened.
"You are also beautiful." Quatre said as he leaned over and gave Alisha an "Eskimo" kiss. (for those of you who don't know, it's when you rub the tips of your noses together.) Alisha then surprised him by leaning in further and giving him a real kiss…
There was another person watching, she was watching from some bushes. Her anger intensified when the boy decided not to let the kiss end automatically, but letting it carry on. Captain Paggitt of the OZ- Stormers got up and walked away, thinking to herself. / she won't have you for long… soon you will be mine my desert prince/
