Mk 3 Ford Cortina GT
Modifications

I have fitted a 2 litre engine from a Sierra injection this gives you a "205" block ,which is what the cosworth engine was based on. It is stronger and can be bored out further. To this I fitted a gas flowed head with the standard valves ( which on the injection are big enough) and then fitted a Weber carb of a 3 litre capri with a K&N air filter.

On the exhaust side  I fitted a Janspeed 4>2>1 manifold into a 2 1/4" straight through pipe that runs across the body to the passenger side then straight out through  under the axle, sounds loud but has a nice deep note, made a hell of a difference to power and torque.

I have a five speed type 9 gearbox bolted to the engine this went to a single piece prop but kept throwing UJ's out so it now has a two piece prop . The car has  a 1600 back axle which gives a lower top speed  (115mph) but does make up for the 5 speed boxes poor ratios.

It has a 0-60 time of 8.6 sec which is achieved in third gear.. The suspension is lowered by 1 1/2" at the rear and 2" at the front with standard shock absorbers. The car is fitted with braided flexy hoses and has vented and drilled disks at the front with M16 calipers.I have fitted the headlights from a mk3 Capri which  are halogen, and a oil filter from a Rover V8, this gives you a extra 1/2pt of oil capacity and keeps the oil cooler. I have removed the viscose fan amd replaced it with a electric one with a thermo switch.

In future I plan to update the standard Ford digital stereo to something that will give the 200 watt 6x9's I have front and back a workout.
