About Me! ^

My name is Kyle (aka Kiento). I started growing Carnivorous plants about 3 years ago when I was 12. My first plant was a Venus Flytrap (cliche cliche) and it did pretty well....until it died. At the same time I had a Sarracenia Purpurea (Pitcher Plant) and that lasted a lot longer than my Venus Flytrap. The winter took it's life though. For a few weeks I was completely CPless :(. Until I went to Lowes and bought a Cobra Lily, butterwort, and a Nepenthes. They're lives all ended in a freak "Oh crap I fried them" accident. I put too strong of a light in their terrarium and it gave off so much heat that it fried them all!!! I'll never make that mistake again. Well I decided to buy the popular "Savage Garden" book by: Peter D' Amato. I read the whole thing in two weeks. I figured NOW I was ready to successfully grow a carnivours plant. I decided to start over from the beggining with another Venus Flytrap. Well this Venus Flytrap did very well until my step dad killed it by chopping all of its' traps off. I was outraged and decided to stop growing carnivorours plants because I felt that no matter what I did, I could never do anything right. So I waited a year and decided to check the Gardenweb Carnivorous Plant forums. I always used to check these message boards to see if I could help anyone with their problems. Well right then I started to like CPs again more and more with every post I read. So once again I went out to search for a Venus Flytrap and I couldn't find one ever. My favorite shop had closed down so I was lost. Then one day my friend gave me a little sick Venus Flytrap that he got for me. It died just recently from sunburn though. I've also been thinking of growing other things and experimenting with cuttings now. I've also began growing my own cacti collection. I attempted bonsai and failed soI think I'll hold off on that. My collection recently died from my bad terrarium so I'm rebuilding it this year. I'm well on my way.
