My Weather Idol: Dave Dahl
Dave Dahl, Channel 5's SKYMAX 5 Chief Meteorologist, joined KSTP-TV in 1977 and has been on the air since 1979. "At the time I joined KSTP-TV they were the only station in town with a full-time meteorology department," says Dahl. "Since that time, I've valued my position here because of the high standards that guide this news operation."
Director Of Region�s Most Preferred Source For Complete Weather Coverage
Dahl oversees SKYMAX 5, the million watt radar, one of the most responsive and accurate weather tracking operations in the industry�and the region's preferred source for complete weather coverage. He delivers his weather forecasts on Channel 5 Eyewitness News weeknights at 5:00pm, 6:00pm, and 10:00pm. He also provides regular weather updates to KS95 FM and AM 1500 KSTP, and his daily forecasts appear in print in the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Named 1998 Broadcaster of the Year
Dahl has received the American Society Seal of Approval for television and radio weather broadcasting, and was also named 1998 Broadcaster of the Year by the Minnesota Broadcaster's Association. Other professional accomplishments include producing a documentary on tornado-chasing for The Weather Channel and a special report on The Discovery Channel for his tornado chase in April 1996.
