| HEALTH AND SAFETY | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| While the daily class schedule stimulates your child's developing mind, our nutritious snacks and lunches satisfy his or her rapidly growingand developing body. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| NUTRITION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As participants of the Nebraska Adult and Child Food Program, we believe in lots of nourishment. Your child gets breakfast, a healthy snack, and a nutritious lunch every day. Menus include foods children love and that meet their daily nutrition, as well as our licensing requirements. If your child has food allergies, religious, or special dietary needs requiring him or her to bring food from home, please discuss this with our staff prior to your child's first day. Also, talk with staff about any special occasions like birthdays or holidays when you might want to bring special treats. Otherwise, we ask that you support our policy, which does not allow children to bring food. |

| Immunizations | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The State of Nebraska requires that all records of all children enrolled in early childhood care and education programs contain information on immunizations. Although full immunization is not required, it is recommended that all children be properly immunized. It is very important that Kid's Place has records of immunizations to comply with the State of Nebraska licensing. If your child gets an immunization shot please let us know so that we can record it in their records. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Illnesses | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kid's Place, Inc. is not equipped to provide care for children who are ill. If your child has had a fever of 100 degrees or more, in the past 24 hours, a constant cough, is vomiting, has a rash or recurrent diarrhea, or symptoms of a communicable disease like measles or chicken pox, we ask that you keep your child home. If he or she has symptoms such as wheezing, nasal discharge or sneezing severe enough to indicate that your child should not attend a group childcare setting, please keep your child at home. If your child were to be exposed to a communicable childhood disease, you would want to know right away. For that reason, please tell us if your child has been exposed to or diagnosed with a communicable disease so we can alert other parents. The physical appearance of all children are monitored closely by staff. If your child becomes ill while at Kid's Place, we will contact you to pick up your child immediately. Parents/Guardians are expected to make arrangements to have children picked up within one hour of phone notification. Repeated failure to follow the illness policy may result in exclusion from Kid's Place, Inc. |

| Medication | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Before childcare personnel can give prescription or non-prescription medication to your child, we must have written authorixation from you. A medication permission form will be available. If you do need to send a prescription medication, it must be in the original, pharmacy-labeled container with your child's name, type of medication, side effects, date, amount and time of dosage. Hand it directly to a staff member. Please do not allow your child to carry medicine in a pocket or leave in a diaper or book bag. It's a good idea to ask your pediatrician if the medication can be given in the morning or evening so that you can avoid sending it. If your child's medication varies from the recommended dosage of non-prescription drugs, a doctor's written authorization is needed for us to comply with state licensing requirements. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Allergies | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If your child has any allergy issues, please talk to the childcare personnel on duty so we can take the right precautions. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Injuries and Accidents | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Every effort will be made to insure the health and safety of children attending Kid's Place, Inc. However, as children begin testing their limitations, accidents sometimes happen. Should your child be injured during childcare, basic First Aid will be provided for minor injuries. You will be notified if childcare personnel believe your child's injury may require professional medical attention. Childcare personnel will not be able to transport children for emergency medical treatment. Parents/Guardian should make arrangements in the event emergency treatment is needed; if no other transportation is available the Rescue Squad will be called (at the Parent/Guardian's expense). All injuries will be documented. The director will also provide you with an accident report for all injuries. |

| Biting Policy | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Biting is not an acceptable behavior at Kid's Place. Whild we understand that this behavior is usually a phase, we must be concerned with the safety of other children. We will work with parents in whatever way we can to dissuade a child from biting and get past the phase as quickly as possible. Kid's Place does reserve the right to ask a parent to find alternate care if the problem cannot be resolved. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Drug/Alcohol Policy | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| At Kid's Place we are very concerned for the safety of all of our kids. Because of this Kid's Place will not release a child to anyone who has been suspected of drug or alcohol use. If there is a suspicion of drug or alcohol use, the staff will ask that an alternate person be contacted to pick up the child or a police escort may be called. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Disciplinary Action | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If a child is treated with respect they will respect themselves and others. We find it is important to keep children busy with projects and to give them ample opportunities to engage in small group activities. We feel it is important to give children choices while providing an atmosphere in whick the children feel comfortable. We provide a sense of security by setting limits in a pleasant and humorous way. By following these guidelines, we hope to avert confrontations before they excavate into large discipline problems. The children will help with progam planning concerning lesson plans and lunch/snack menus, this will help them develop positive behavior by being involved in decision making. The children will be responsible for their own behavior and decisiions that they make. There will be fairness and the children will be encouraged to withdraw from conflicts. A child who cannot follow the rules will be redirected to another activity. If redirection does not work a child may be sent to the Thinking area. In the thinking area, a child has time to think about what happened and how it could have been handled differently. This is then discussed with the child. As a last resort we may use a time-out. Tiem-outs last no longer than one minute for each year of the child's age. Time-outs are always within view of childcare personnel. Physical punishment is never permitted. If your child is experiencing a change in his or her home environment that may affect behavior, please let a staff member know. Communicaiton is important to your child's progress. In turn, Kid's Place will keep you informed of any problems we observe. We will work with you to address the situation. However, should it be necessary, Kid's Place, INc. reserves the right to ask parents/guardians to make temporary or permanent alternative arrangements for thier child | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
