GETTING STARTED

The first week can be an emotional one for everyone concerned.  Going from the safe and familiar surroundings of home to the structure of a childcare enter is a big step for any child and parent/guardian.  However, there are some things you can do to help make the days positive and fun for your child.

*   We recommend that all children visit at least once prior to enrollment.  This gives you and your child a chance to meet the staff and the new surroundings together.

*  Talk to your child about the staff, the other children, and what you have seen and heard.

*  Talk with your child about what's going to happen, so he/she can be prepared for what's ahead and anticipate the fun time to come.

*  Make sure your child has a special security item to bring, if needed.

*  Start early, so the day doesn't feel rushed.
