Kinder-College (Ages 4-5, Children entering Kindergarten in the Fall)

 

Kinder-College Curriculum is based on a sequential readiness program designed to expose children to a variety of activities necessary for kindergarten readiness. Age-appropriate, developmental activities are used to help children gain beginning knowledge (not mastery) of the concepts they need for success in kindergarten.


Included below are some of our activities:


Phonics:
Recognition of all letter names and their sounds,

Numbers:
Recognizing the numbers and counting through 20, matching numbers to amounts through 10.

Science:
Living and non-living things, animals of the wild, children of the world, transportation.

Health:
Food groups, cleanliness, oral hygiene, sleeping habits.

Safety:
Playground safety, crossing street, phone numbers, avoiding strangers, scissors.


Manners:
Table manners, sharing, thank-you, please, addressing adults.

Art:
Continuing painting, coloring, cut and paste, murals, collages, clay.

Computer Lab:
Weekly class emphasizing readiness skill games for all KC children.

Music & PE:
Developmental activities aimed at promoting a love for music and exercise.
