| The picture above is my Joey Jordison chair!! My favourite art project of all my grade 8 year! For this project, all the grade 7's and 8's of my school were told to bring in an old chair from home and decorate it up as there favourite famous person. It took me awhile but I finally chose Joey Jordison ..the greatest drummer of Slipknot. I remember being sick a couple days and staying home from school ..and then coming back to class and being told about this project ..from the moment I heard about it I was excited because I've always loved art. Since I was already late bringing in a chair for this project, I had a limited amount of time to find one. I went home and searched my house that night I learned about the project for a chair that I could use, but sadly I didn't have any old ones that could be used. I sat down with my parents and I told them about this ..my Dad got a great idea in his head that since hes really good at building things, that he could easily throw one together that night. My Dad took 3 hours of his night building a chair for me the best he could ..I felt so guilty but all he asked for in return was a promise that I would work my best on this and make him proud. Well working on my chair tooks about 2 monthes of art classes if I can remember properly and I enjoyed all of it! The first day parents came in and did some wood cut outs for us for the whole afternoon ..my wood cut out is the "Slipknot" on my chair. I painted in black because I thought it best suited the nature of the band and I put lots of fake dripping blood representing the song "Wait and Bleed" ..a song on Slipknots self-titled album, plus I thought it would look kool. I did what I could to try and make what I thought looked like one of Joeys masks and used yarn to represent the black and red of his hair. Well ..after the monthes of all of our hard work, we had a "Chair Gallery" that took place in my schools library at 7 o'clock of one night. Certain chairs were spacifically picked for being in the gallery ..mine included. That was the night my Dad got to see my completed chair I worked so hard on even staying after school to completely finish and perfect to my liking. My Dad told me he was very proud of what I had done and that it was well worth making the chair for me. Thanks Dad!! |
