| MOWER THE MORNING AFTER (1-track single promo/ 2003/ TRANSCOPIC RECORDS) Mower couldnt be more cutting. Nope, they wont mince words when few will suffice, such as in their last, furiously-frank hit - After Dark - when the chorus refrain succinctly said it all: I want to sleep with you!!! It seems logical therefore to unleash The Morning After (nicked from their debut album People Are Cruel) the night before next then, with the guitars and spit-spat vocals of soul just as volatile and as rocking as before. Yep dont let the nice and chilled drum intro and funky indie guitar play-in to the song fool you, because before you know it this cheeky track is all over - and yet it is breathtakingly cram-packed with so much fun, verve and well-postured swagger that youre left to ponder Gee - if Mower have this much energy the morning after, just imagine what they were like when teetering on the cusp of a damn fine lay the evening previous. Hint-hint and so crazy singer Matt Mottes lyrics go some way in revealing certain degrees of guilt and shame all the same: I keep losing sleep coz Im cheap and nasty. Im gonna take a cold shower on my own. I really, really cant wait for the next break-neck installment. Mower wear their genitalia and want for full-throttled hedonism in their jeans, but should you wish to hear exactly what it sounds like then take heed and bleed with em.
