| MC GRAWS LAW PRODUCT (3-track demo/ 2003) Mc Graws Law are back in the house, still 4 fresh-faced London lads on the block. Thank fuck for that. On the back of 2002s awesomely awesome demo Everything to Everyone, these dudes return with a pretty different sound, a much more less confrontational sound with reduced emphasis on their seeming compulsion for incorporating big beats into their quality indie-rock roundabout of mighty melodies and passionate sentiments. Still, their indie-rock is breathlessly executed (I wouldnt expect anything less) and theres even zest when theyre at their most mellow, as the acoustic guitars that grace You Already Know vibrantly sprint, rattle and hum. This is pure brilliance and, moreover, pure pop. But Mc Graws Law are no Busted. Both bands play guitar but thats where the likenesses die. Singer A is primed to the max with soul and his voice compliments the finest song Ive heard of theirs to date in Indigo (speaking of soul, he sings Shes under my skin touching my soul) with perfect pitch, the enviable acoustic sound briefly reminding of the opening two chords of Puressences This Feeling. Mind you, Ageless Friend raucously harks back to the sound of their previous, aforementioned demo, yet the out-&-out rock theatrics here are still considerate enough not to force the underlying, essential soul to be compromised. Despite the clever artwork pix of all 4 band members with their faces cut-up and rearranged amongst themselves, these guys have their heads screwed on too from a potential business point of view. They are in fact too considerate, because the very first track is indeed an abridged collation of all 3 tracks that follow, designed specifically for A&R mintlaffs to have a listen to; running at just 2 minutes long, it features 40 seconds of each song and is a great idea and an obvious route that more bands should take if they are serious about striving to get noticed with their demos. Mc Graws Law couldnt have really made the job of an A&R-er any easier though. Theyve got the music, the balls and intelligence to reap record-breaking rewards both for themselves and the lucky record label that will come soon enough to sign em up. They waste not one note and Product is a perfect package. They go further than delivering the goods - they deliver the greats. Indeed this is a sheer fucking joy!
