This is quite possibly the scariest shit I have ever, ever heard. Forget Slipknot and the fear and loathing that they articulate� this is the real deal - and it is never, ever to be listened to after dark.
And even the guys who create this noise, DJ Sizewell and MC Piriton, sound to not believe in their music, saying in their press release - 'Enjoy the CD, but you probably won't�'
At first I didn't understand why they were being so hard on themselves, as the sample of some dude taking a piss that introduces the opening, eponymous track is quirky enough. Then - admittedly - the trouble brews as the crazy, disturbing, ultra-painfully screamed vocals are twatted over some poor excuse for a beat. Imagine a slightly more eccentric cross between System of A Down (in 'dance' mode) and seriously fucked-up Keith Flint and you still don't come close to what this sounds like. It could be sheer genius, but I'm just not hearing it, I'm sorry� though there's no denying this is a damn vibrant fusion of sounds, beats and samples and I won't take that as a genuine compliment away from them.
I must admit that I dig the samples of some mad guitar riffage - that reminds of the stunts David Bowie guitarist Carlos Alomar routinely pulls off with panache - that plays beneath the stronger beat of 'Rotterdaaam,' before 'Hatars' confirms the fact that this colossal experiment into brainwashing, mind-bending dance music really is harsher and louder than the loudest rock currently going down like a hooker in Soho.
Come the final, closing track - 'Payload' - there's only one thing left to say� 'What the fuck?!' Maybe it's me who just doesn't get it, but this is sheer torture and the prospect of being hung, drawn and quartered literally sounds more fun than having to listen to this again.
This, then, is one CD you have to hear. Remember kids� what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Rarggh!!!! (STEVE RUDD)
