MATRIX RELOADED

In-keeping with its theme, Matrix Reloaded shatters routine to such an overwhelming degree you cant fail to be impressed. And thank God Trinity doesnt die just when it looks as though one of the bullets shot her way and into her gut really is the coup detat. I mean, who honestly would watch Matrix Revolutions if it werent for her, when Carrie Anne Moss who plays her is the sexiest heroine ever seen in zee movies. Yep, she's even sexier than Fairuza Balk in the brilliantly twisted underground 'American Perfekt' thriller...
Lucky for leading man Keanu Reeves, he doesnt even have to try to act when its the epic action scenes that the movie relies upon. In classic Terminator 2 style, the scope of the action scenes escalate throughout the movie to astonishing heights, the super-SFX seemingly from any place but Hollywood, and anytime but now they are so sublime, they look way ahead of even our CGI-dependant times.
If you havent seen the original Matrix movie you will struggle to keep up with the frantic speed and mind-boggling premise that we - as humankind - are controlled in a Big Brother-esque way, if you will and those people who refuse to live their lives as governed people proudly dwell underground, and rebel against the system on earth (most definitely not as it is in heaven) as best they can.
Co-led by martial arts mentalist Neo (Reeves) and the wicked, optimistic and poetic Morpheus (played by the deep, dark-voiced Laurence Fishburne), its no easy ride trying to overcome bad guy Hugo Weaving and his hundreds of evil copies. But they stress themselves out trying, and will tire out anyone who watches in the spectacular process.
Even if some of the scenes are so ridiculous and preposterous you gotta laugh (I mean, can a trucker really spin his truck round in one fell swoop on its side of the highway and proceed to speed back into the now oncoming rush hour madness so bleeding effortlessly?!), come the clever to be concluded ending, your jaw will genuinely be as dropped as far as the next mans or womans or childs. Aww Jesus.      (STEVE RUDD)
