LOSTPROPHETS BURN BURN
(single/ VISIBLE RECORDS)
If this single release is indicative of their new stuff in general, then Welsh boys the Lostprophets have found a different rock sound altogether for Burn Burn, which precedes the release of their new LP, the highly anticipated (and then some) Start Something.
They sound to be less angry with the world these days, and while there is still a trademark Emo-metal undercurrent, this is the Lostprophets at their catchiest and most commercial sounding yet and it sounds great to me with its damn cool guitar riffage and amazing chorus.
So catchy as to remind of bands Ruby Cruiser and Yorks Colour of Fire, their new material could even be a reflection of the manic hype that surrounded their debut LP, with the pondering and potentially paranoid lyrics My integrity was sold Do you think weve lost our minds?
Nope, their integrity has definitely not been sold through sounding so pop-rock and theyve certainly not lost their minds in choosing to be less angry or intense because Burn Burn is an awesome anthem that should truly make the Lostprophets a household-name band.
The album, incidentally, was recorded in LA produced and recorded by Eric Valentine whos served both the Queens of The Stone Age and Good Charlotte well with his behind-desk skills.
Its time to get excited all over again     5/5     (Steve Rudd)
