This band is a thrilling revelation, fronted by Pat Fugoni who�s vocal performances are blessed with the soulfully entrancing zest of Michael Hutchence. Yet Kava Kava aren�t all about playing rock music, for the majority of these fourteen tracks - spread over a value-for-money seventy-five minutes of playing time - are primarily groovy slabs of Dance-Pop with cool Disco vibes shot through the mix for added impact.
From the jaw-droopingly cool �Don�t Stop The Music� anthem that is a truly unforgettable tune that should be a worldwide smash-hit, through the cool riff of �Space People� to the soulful funkiness of �Terrorists,� the beats are forever big, Pat�s vocals are always exquisite (and sometimes even remind of SEAL). The title track in �Maui� is a slow-burning transcendental masterpiece of epic proportions, while the awesomely melodic �Funked Up And Freaked Out� stands-out as one of the most amazing tunes on this fantastic release.
With Matt Bond on guitars, the Yorkshire-based Kava Kava crew is a quartet that utilises all manner of instruments (including trumpet, bass, Electronica, drums and keyboards) to produce their bold musical vision that has seen the band play at plenty of festivals right across Europe and back again.
The most addictive tune has to be the album-opening �Don�t Stop The Music,� and this tune is so strong that�s been featured in the popular US TV series �The Weeds.� still, every track is outstanding in its own right, with three of the songs running to over seven minutes in length.
One thing�s for certain, Kava Kava certainly don�t do anything by halves. Thank God.
