I O, I O, Iota are the way to go�
A hugely promising, upcoming 4-piece band effectively fusing grunge and indie rock elements with such catchy panache they coolly verge on forging a career as a grunge-pop band, IOTA frontman Steve�s vocals through opening track �Inside My Head� - and coupled with Dan�s dirtily lewd guitars - produce a sound somewhat reminiscent of Muse or Scarlet Soho.
While the recording quality of that first track is relatively abysmal (unless that�s the desired sound they actually strived for, which is unlikely), the remaining 3 tracks just get better and better through �You�ve Lost It All� and �Bitter Tears� to the demo highlight in the gloriously dynamic goodness of their �Soul Behind The Blind.
At their best, Iota harness energy to its full potential and all instruments involved know their places. James� fun bass-runs in particular stand-out as examples of brilliant musicianship, allowing the band�s sound to fleet with that of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, while Dan�s roaring guitar FX hanker after Van Halen�s stadium-rock sound.
I�ve said it once and I�ll say it again. They�re Iota and I�ll be frank� these are the germs of a batch of truly amazing songs. (STEVE RUDD)
