HONDO MACLEAN CHASING ANGELS EP
(MIGHTY ATOM)

Holy fuck, Welsh metal massiv Hondo Maclean dont mince emotion with these four fresh tracks for the sethering, opening with Lolas Pictures with vocalist Ben Woosnam ripping his voice to shreds in the name of such high quality, and highly emotive, metal music thats infused with Cradle of Filth-styled darkness and Gothically poetic lyrics such as Lips left tattoo prints on you,
This EP has been produced by Joe Gibbs dab-hands (whos also worked with Funeral For A Friend & Million Dead), and to promote Chasing Angels, the mad Hondo guys have been high-tailing it round the UKs best venues with Funeral For A Friend and Sikth to take their songs to gagging live audiences. Hell, theyve had hell of a year on the road, all things considered, what with tour accompanying Poison The Well and Jackass jackass in Steve-O too.
For the most part Hondo Maclean are not to be messed with, their music is that intense, though there is a beautiful lulling interlude that makes Lolas Pictures a wondrously epic track, as the band sweetly harmonise in pondering Why are you hiding when you could be dancing? Why indeed?
Dont Forget To Feed The Fish is harrowingly affecting and effectively crazy, Bens ripping vocals hearing cause to compare these guys to Hulls Planet 10, while the guitar riffage issued by Gavin Burrough and Gavin Philips sweats the hard edge that Iron Maiden have so mastered over the years. Meanwhile, Wave surges with its quality, agitated chorus, before the EP closes with By The Power of Greyskull, a tribute to 80s kiddies cartoon He-Man and The Masters of The Universe.
Just like He-Man, Hondo couldnt be bolder in their ways.
