BODIXA GIVE ME RAIN
(single/ UGLY MAN MUSIC)

The type of skewed indie-rock that emanates from Leeds in certain circles is so unlike the indie-rock thats both been and is being created elsewhere in the country. Maybe its the imaginative nature of us Yorkshire folk, or perhaps all is coincidental. But take Pop Threat, and then the epic sound of Four Day Hombre.
And now Bodixa, the 5-piece with this 2-track single, as Give Me Rain is inoffensive indie-pop at its sweetest. The soothingly sung vocals are no doubt sultry enough to sound like Texas Sharleens (which admittedly isnt that alternative a sound), but wait for the chorus thatll catch you unaware as an Alt-guitar riff nips in to underpin the vocals that suddenly remind of Tori Amos in yet another peskily intense emotional situation thats seemingly impossible to get out of, especially in light of any meddling kids.
Parasite, which plays nothing like the first track, is in comparison a charming, much more lo-fi acoustic approach to their version of indie-rock events that is so original sounding you cant deny Bodixa the edge that theyve created for themselves and that will hopefully stand to get this band noticed big-time.
As for their last lifeline, the dark yet wistful Parasite obsessively scolds with the lyric Im living off your memories.
Matter-of-factly and as selfish as it sounds, I say we should live off their music.
