20 20 VISION - DEMO
Mancunian on-a-mission Adrian Lomas sings and plays with such humble and modest desperation that you can't fail to be utterly enchanted by his down-to-earth and yet fantastically whimsical approach to life and love.
20-20 Vision is Adrian's 'stage-name' as such, though if I was writing songs of such excellence as these I'd be hugely tempted to sell myself through sheer pride and not lurk in the shade of relative anonymity. And Adrian's every right to feel proud of himself, as he's pushing back the boundaries of acoustic music.
'Adequately Marvellous,' opening this demo, is an understatement given the ultra-mature levels of sensitivity that the man brings to his songwriting. 'In a different light I might call you sunshine' he sings, as-ever with his trusted acoustic guitar tastefully mashed with a pre-programmed drum loop.
'In You I Hide' is just as tender, and Adrian's voice is of the warm and wispy caliber traditionally reserved for flattering 'bedroom talk.' This guy's an utter charmer and could surely woo the suspenders off any women of his choosing, armed with his startling empathy for the lovelorn human condition.
Wise way beyond his years and his essentially lo-fi, self-recorded means, Adrian's final track in 'Human' is the finest present with its coolly emotive acoustics and intriguingly off-kilter back-beat, begging to be cranked up to the max just in time for Mr Lomas' music to sincerely change your life for the better and then some.    5/5    (STEVE RUDD)
