CARR FAMILY SEARCH
In our search for our roots, we need additional information on our Carr ancestors.
Below, you will find a brief history of the Carr family's migration to Mississippi from Virginia via North Carolina and Alabama.  It begins with George Miller Carr who was born somewhere in Alabama  in 1822.   We believe that George's father and mother were born in Virginia around 1772.   There is known to be a Martha Miller Carr that was born in Virginia about 1772 and a Charles Carr, born 1802 in North Carolina that are related in some manner to George.  George Miller Carr was born in 1822 in Alabama and his sister, Margaret Carr was born in 1825, possibly in NC or maybe Alabama.  To aid our search for George's parents, we need to know the County in Alabama where the family resided when George was born.   Obviously, we are in desparate need to determine who George's father was. Without this vital piece of information, the search is stalled.
George Miller Carr and Lucy Ann Brown
George went by his middle name, 'Miller'.  On 4 December 1841, George or 'Miller' Carr married Lucy Ann Brown.  They were married in Ittawamba County, Mississippi.  Miller (as we will henceforth refer to him) and Lucy Ann had two children.  Martha Carr who was born in 1842 and James Robert 'Bob' Carr who was born on 15 September 1847.  Both were born in Alabama.  Lucy died ca. 1847, possibly in childbirth.
George Miller Carr and Aminda Pullen McDonald
Miller Carr married Aminda Pullen McDonald sometime between 1847 and 1850. Aminda was born in Alabama.  She had previously been married to a gentleman whose name was McDonald.  It could be surmised that her maiden name was Pullen but this is not known to be factual.  In fact, we know very little of Aminda. Miller and Aminda had four children, all boys.  They were: Henry Alexander, born in 1850; Marcus Alonzo, born in 1852; Joseph Miller, born in 1855; and George Luther, born in 1857.

Sometime in the 1850's, Miller Carr moved his family to the community of Bear Creek in Attala County, Mississippi.  It is not known when Miller and Aminda died or where they are buried.  The Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church, of which they were members, was organized in September, 1851.  It is likely that they occupy unmarked graves in the Bear Creek Cemetery.

Martha Carr married a man named Pierce.  At some time in her life time she became blind.  Nothing more is known of Martha.

James Robert 'Bob' Carr married three times and fathered twenty offspring.  He died on 24 August 1847 and is buried in Bear Creek Cemetery.  We have some information on all three wives and their children.

Joseph Miller married Nancy Jane Black.  She died in 1896 and Joe then married Ola Norman.  He died 31 August 1932 and is buried at McCool Cemetery with his second wife.

George Luther is believed to have died as a teenager.
