GROUP Methods and FEES/  INSTRUMENT Purchase

FOR BEGINNERS WITH OR WITHOUT INSTRUMENTS

You are welcome to join a group to learn or Keyboards, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone. The fife ( a plastic yamaha cross blown flute)and the Recorder are cheaper options to consider also.

All these instruments are tought at the studio. The first few lessons for complete beginners will be individual but very soon youll be able to join a band and have the fun of being part of a band.( This is for students at the studio - students taught at schools click here

Piano is taught individually at the studio only.

You may bring your own instrument but if you dont have an instrument that is also fine as you can learn on one of our keyboards for a short while until you feel ready to commit to a purchase .

Keyboards are without doubt easier to begin with than any of the other instruments.

FEES and TIMES ( STUDIO OR SCHOOL )

Fees for 2001 are R400 per school term for groups at the studio and are once weekly for 1 hour.

At schools the fees are R450 p/term ( R50 p/term to include extra time, travelling as well as  costs and supply of learning materials.)The school fee includes all printed music as well as diskettes for computer, tapes or CDs of of the backing for students to play along with at home once they buy an instrument or if they have one already.

The school fee includes 8 individual lessons in school time and 2 group lessons arranged in 2 afternoons or early evenings each term.

Although the groups at schools only meet twice a term , pupils prepare their parts ihn the individual lessons to ensure that the groups work smoothly.

INSTRUMENT PURCHASE

For students studying with Kidbands a purchase scheme is available whereby flutes clarinets or saxophones can be resold by you to our supplier less 40% in the first year, and in the second year less 50%. Terms for payment are also available.

Hiring is from a another supplier is  also possible when instruments become available.

FOR THOSE  IN LESSONS ALREADY

You are welcome to join a group to make music with others if you are already at a good standard on your instrument. This only applies at this stage to pupils at my studio, not at schools.

GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION

A maximum of 4 players per group ensures individual tuition within the group whilst at the same time enjoying the fun of playing  continually in a group!

PROFESSIONAL SOUNDING RESULTS!

Professional digitally recorded backtracks are arranged by Skymusik. Whether your'e a beginner or more advanced there are also parts that you play simultaneously with the professional parts. These are written especially for the level you are assessed at, or if a beginner, then beginner parts. This means you hear all the original sounding parts even whilst you might be playing simpler parts, depending on your level.

GRADUAL  PRACTICE  PACE

In the beginning stages beginner students  do not need to endlessly practice their parts at home although some practice is required.

Gradually the need to practice increases a little and hopefully simply because you are enjoying it and enjoy the challenge of learning more skills.

SOCIAL AND FUN

In addition playing with others is a lot more fun with room for more social interaction than in conventional lessons.

PROFESSIONALLY PRINTED PARTS

All the parts you play are professionally printed as well use specialized music fonts. For beginners  "kidsfonts" are used (the alphabetical note name in the centre of the music note ) to help learning to read music with almost no effort at all.
