Starrcade 95
**Me and my friend Brandon used to do indy reviews and occasional PPV reviews once in awhile, and this is one of his reviews.  Whatever else you might say, the man is NOT afraid to give ya his opinion**

Brandon definitions--

God-- Shinjiro Ohtani
Wildline/Wildbomb/HorseTamer-- references to Benoit's time in Japan as Wild Pegasus
A Patterson-- a standing switch go behind....yes, this is a gay reference
Snakeinthegrass-- a Dustyism
Nietchze-- Nietchze is the philosopher who said "God is dead."  Gotta read the context of the reviw to get it fully.
TEST PATENTED ELBOW!!!-- just a knock on Jim Ross, because everytime Test hit the top rope elbow Ross would call in "patented", as if Test is the first guy to ever do it

Howdy.  The Grandaddy of em all, Starrcade is here in it's glory.  This is WCW's Wrestlemania and until the NWO came around they weren't all that bad.  Anyway on WCW TV leading up to this broadcast several Japanese wrestlers brought in by the snakeinthegrass Sonny Onoo have come and attempted to "invade" WCW.  I know invasion angles never draw money but hey do I book a failed promotion.  The end result is the best of seven series for the "bogus" World Cup of Wrestling.  Plus to keep the fans happy we have a triangle match for a title shot against Savage.

World Cup Contestants

Chris Benoit vs Jushin "Thunder" Liger
Alex "Das Wunderkid" Wright vs. Koji Kanemoto
Lex Luger vs Masahito Chono
Johnny B. Badd vs. Saito
Eddy Guerrero vs. Shinijiro Ohtani
Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Tenzan
Sting vs Kenasuki Sasaki

Sting vs Lex Luger vs Ric Flair for title shot against Savage
? vs Macho Man Randy Savage for the WCW World Title

Well that matchlist certainly gets me going.  Eddy Ohtani?  Come on I know you're happy.  So am I.

on to the tape, gladiator

We are previously recorded live dubbed from a blockbuster tape coming to you from the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee Lee

Your host for the evening are Tony Go Braves Schiavone, Bobby the Brain Heenan, and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes.

Quick sidenote.  When I review a show I like to add funny comments by the announcers but God Damn Dusty is hilarious and I can't keep up.  If you know what I'm talking about you know to add several Clubberins and Clobberins and various unklin' situations.
Face time for the announcers to say how great it is to be in the town that Jarrett built.  Bobby says that Savage is hurt from a previous match with Luger.  Enough of those American chumps bring me the puro.

Dynamite Chris Benoit vs Jushin "Thunder" Liger

Benoit is a fresh member of the vaulted Four Horsemen.  Onto the match.  Lockup and push down by Chris.  Make that a sequel.  Kick, punch, side headlock by Chris.  Whips, Benoit trips goes for a Boston but Liger flips him out. Two armdrags by Liger sends Chris outside.  Liger hits the baseball slide and follows with the cannonball.  Tony takes time to mention that Liger is unique because he has he's own cartoon show.  I personally have fond memories of Superstars with Hulk Hogan.  I also have inside knowledge on the Tiger Mask cartoon.  Tony you suck.  What? Oh yeah  match.  Test of strength Liger goes down first.  Liger holds hands and they do that weird dipsey do move ending in a Rana by Liger.  He follows this up with a dropkick.  Chop whip to a tilt a whirl backbreaker by Chris.  Wildbomb but Liger armdrags out.  Whip to overhead belly to belly by Liger, called a takeover armdrag by Tony.  You suck.  Dropkick by Liger and Chris bails.  Liger speeds up but Chris moves out of the way and Liger does the handstand into the ropes.  Liger opens ropes for Chris.  Kick to midsection followed by the snap suplex by Chris.  Chris follows this up with a teardrop.  Chris kicks Liger in the back of the head.  Whip Wildline.  Chris gets the Horsetamer(Liontamer but Jericho hadn't stole it yet).  Chris throws Liger down out of the Horsetamer.  Chops by Chris but Liger gets the Sumo slaps.  German by Chris for 2.  Chris goes for another pin for 2.  Legtrip to surfboard to dragon sleeper all Liger.  Liger then slaps on the steiner recliner.  Chris gets up and Liger is on his shoulders.  Chris says get off me horny man and gets the electric chair drop.  Teardrop reversed to a cross body for 1 for Liger.  Chris goes for the Tombstone but Liger reverses to his own.  Liger goes up top but Chris meets him up there.  Superplex for 2 by Chris.  Slam but Chris misses the swandive(go figure).  Koppo kick by Liger followed by a Ligerbomb for 2.  Liger with nice brainbuster for 2.  Whip duck Wildline.  Rolling Germans and Chris releases on 2nd.  Wildbomb and cue the American bullshit booking as Kevin fucking Sullivan comes out and ruins a good match.  Meanwhile Chris hits the swandive goes for the Dragon but he sees the midget lets go and goes over to Sullivan.  Back turned and Liger gets a * Hurincanrana for the 3.  ***1/2.  God damn you that was **** at least until Sullivan and that Rana.  I love America, sarcasm mode turned off.

WCW 0 New Japan 1

Gene Mean is standing by with Eddy.

Alex "Das Suckkid" Wright vs Koji Kanemoto IWGP lt heavyweight champion

Alex with the Blue Blazer entrance.  You know WCW ripped off a lot of music for their entrances but I think Madonna actually ripped WCW off with Alex's music.  Oh well. Quick note, I've always hated Alex Wright not really knowing why then it hit me.  He's way too tall to be a cruiser.  His moves just look bad and it's because it shouldn't be impressive that he leapfrogs someone.  Hell, Rey could probably walk under him and never even graze Alex Jr. What? oh yeah the match.

Lockup and push away.  Double that.  Alex with a hammerlock Koji gets his own.  Alex drop toehold out but Koji gets a hammerlock and Alex armdrags out.  Koji returns the favor.  Koji with side headlock.  Koji hits an ugly spinning drop toe hold.  Koji hits a few spinning toe hold drops.  Alex stands up and hits the owenziguri.  European uppercuts by the European.  Armbars aplenty by both men.  Alex armdrags out and holds onto the arm.  Whip and guess it....armdrag.  Alex with a headscissor and a dropkick.  Koji is leaning against ropes and Alex hits the flying crossbody.  Both tumble over top.  Now why isn't that a DQ? I never understood that rule.  They only use it when they want. Of the many many mistakes WCW made that was one of them.  European uppercuts outside.  Alex back in and hits the baseball slide.  Cross body to outside by Alex.  Koji is now officially upset.  Lockup to snapmere to sleeper by Alex.  Alex lets go and dropkicks Koji in the back of the head.  Another sleeper, really you can never have enough, and Koji stands and backs in the corner and elbows out.  Koji goes all pissy and punches and kicks and elbows and chops his way to the fans hearts.  Snapmere to elbow on the top of the Germans head.  Kicks to a spinwheel kick by Koji.  Alex with headbutt that Koji no sells.  Koji lays Alex on top of the corner. In that position Koji beats Alex's ass he eventually gets a dropkick and Alex falls down.  Koji puts Alex on the apron and they fight over a suplex but Koji says the hell with it and dropkicks Alex off.  Pescado by Koji.  Whip to guardrail by Alex and he starts to the punching thing.  Koji on apron but flips out of the suplex and hits the Tiger for 2.  Moonsault connects but Koji lifts Alex up.  Kicks to Alex and Alex responds with chops.  Whip to corner and Alex gets a sick Nationalism suplex for 2.  Spinkick to corner shoulderblocks by Alex.  Whip to corner Alex with an elbow.  Front slam and Alex hits that jumping corner splash of his for 2.  Alex up top and they botch the dropkick reversal.  Double KO.  Both crawl up whip to corner but Alex jumps backwards to a cross body for 2.  Pattersons but Koji elbows out spinning back heel kick.  Slam and twisting senton for 2.  Koji up top and they blow the dropkick reversal spot again.  Alex goes up and comes down with a missile dropkick.  Alex puts Koji up top...superplex for 2.  Corner whip and Alex tries to jump over Koji but Koji catches him and hits the snake eyes.  Leg trip with roll over for the 3 for Koji.  **3/4 Alex sucks so much it's laughable.  I've never seen Kanemoto before so I hope that it was Alex that made him look that bad.  What the Hell was the finish all about?  Funny, WCW confusing me?  That doesn't happy too often now does it?

WCW 0 New Japan 2

Gene Mean is with Sonny Onoo.  Now I ask you watching Onoo's over the top Japanese accent and actions, why is Sonny the one with the racial suit against Turner?  Funny moment as Onoo says maybe he'll buy WCW and everyone says WCW isn't for sell.

Lex Luger vs Chono (The Japanese Luger)

Something I didn't know Chono was trained by Lou Thez.  Huh.  Kick forearm side headlock all by Lex.  Whip to shoulderblock and step forward press slam again all Lexy.  Crowd is pretty hot.  Kicks by Lex.  Whip duck elbow Chono hit the ropes and get another elbow.  Yakuza kick by Masa.  Luger bails. Chono with a SPACE FLYING TIGER DROP! Yes, I'm kidding.  Hey Rob Van Dam what would you do now.  Oh yeah, STAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL.  Test of strength and Luger heels out.  Two cross corner whips by Luger.  Luger lays in the Made in America boots.  Suplex but it's reversed and Chono gets one of his own.  Knees and chokes in the corner by Chono.  Snapmere to eye pinch by Masa.  Luger responds with some knees and punches.  Luger with a blantent call on camera. OOPS.  Whip to sleeper on Chono but Chono hits the Scorpion death drop.  Chono with the STF.  Luger gets to the ropes.  Punch fight but Chono gets the Tokyo drop.  Chono goes up but decides against it and hits another Yakuza kick.  Chono up top for an axe handle but Lex hits the Sicilian elbow.(That move call makes sense if you hear Dusty)  Luger gets the torture rack for the duke.  Fuck I hate Lex.  **3/4  Nuff said.

WCW 1 New Japan 2

Gene with Sting.  God Sting sucks on the mike. Promo note: "WCW will sell out over the Stinger's dead body."  Quick someone call the Borden's house.  Look in the attic.

Johnny B. Badd (That's not just a cool name.  He's BADD) w/ Kim vs. Saito

Really bad segment with Onoo and Kimberly in the ring.  Less said is good.  Lockup to break and Saito bows.  I just want to hug that bastard.  Badd hammerlock to really Badd armbar.  You the readers get to decide what I mean by badd.  Saito with the armdrag.  Leg trip to cobra clutch by Saito to chinlock.  Standup and hairpull followed by a lockup and Saito chops.  This wakes up Suck boy and they Chop Em Down.  Saito to a headlock and a rabbit punch.  Slam on turnbuckle and throat punches by Saito.  Bottom rope choke and eye rake by Saito.  Sonny gets a choke in with the Rising Sun.  Belly to back by Saito for 2. Kicks whip Tortureline for 2.  Middle rope choke and Sonny joins in.  Russian leg sweep for 2.  They start to trade punches to a whip kick and Badd kneelift.  Really Badd double axe handle.  He's all badd all day.  Badd up top and gets a nice sunset flip for 2.  Saito up and he bows and that Badd muthafugga kicks him.  That's nice you dick.  Kicky punchy by Suck and he gets a Badd suplex for .5. Take that you Schavione.  Sonny late getting up to the apron Badd waits and then goes over to harass that foreign menace. Savior of the Free World: Johnny B Badd and he is too.  Anyways Saito dumps Badd for the DQ.  What the hell is that?  Alex cross bodied Koji over the top and the ref went right along.  AHHHHHHHHHH SERENITY NOWWWWWWWWW.  I hope Watts dies in front of his mother.  After match Kim gets in ring and Mero hits a couple of dropkicks.  Saito bails and Mero follows with a somersault tope. **

WCW 2 New Japan 2

Gene with Jimmy Hart and Luger.  I fast forward because I have respect for myself.

Oh baby let's get ready.

Eddy Guerrero the man myth mexican of great honor and glory vs. GOD(Ohtani)

Heel stalling by God.  Lockup to side headlock by Eddy.  Top wristlock by Ohtani dropped to armbar and hairpull.  Eddy goes for an armdrag but since Ohtani is the Lord he ain't having any of that girlfriend and he blocks it.  Ohtani gets on top of Eddy and gets a eyelock. Eddy sweeps out.  Ohtani pushes back Eddy to the ropes with all his might.  The emotion running through his body is immense as he ties up one arm.  He looks to the crowd with disdain but deep in his belly he feels the honor of being Where the big boys play.  He ties up the other arm anxious and nervous that his big move will be appriciated by the capacity crowd.  He rears back with all his might and he thinks back about his life.  The high school amatuer wrestling championships.  Dressing as Liger to get noticed at shows.  The best of the Super Juniors the J cups.  The WCW cruiserweight championship. Little Minama who was the first girl he kissed.  This move will be the hallmark of his career. This move will earn him a place among the Flairs, The Ligers, the Tiger Masks, The Funks, The Andersons, The Dynamite Kids, The Gunns.  It's time. He reaches back and PINCHES EDDY'S NOSE.  HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.  Ohtani reaches for a leg but gets caught with an owenziguri.  Lockup to snapmere to face twist by Eddy.  Legtrip to odd half crab to standing kneebar by Ohtani.  They fight over that for a bit.  That all ends in a Guerrero chinlock.  Both back up and whip to Ohtani monkeyflip.  Whip duck Eddy hits a rana.  Ohtani bails.  Test of strength and Eddy gets a dropkick.  Slam sets up the Guerrero senton. Full crab by Eddy then he drops a leg and wrenchs on the other one.  Eddy puts the Gringo boots to God.  Nasty powerbomb for 2 by Eddy.  Eddy gets a sick, sick brainbuster which Ohtani does the Nietchze.  Cross corner and Tigerline follow.  Flair flip by Ohtani and he gets a springboard dropkick.  Eddy bails.  Ohtani hits the springboard plancha.  Tony is an idiot, Example 7654768: "He did that right on the concrete!!!..... well, actually that's particle board".  Way to sell that big bump.  You suck, Tony..  Stomp to whip and dropkick by God.  Ohtani chokes him.

Bobby:  If you were Guerrero what would you be thinking
Dusty: I'd be thinking I lost a lot of weight brutha.
Bobby: What if you were Ohtani?
Dusty: If I was Hot toddy, I'd get him in the ring and do another maneuver and then get the 123 and head to the lockerroom.
Bobby: Well if I was Ohtani I...
Dusty: If you was Ohtani you'd hit me with a pair of brass knucks or a bottle of soda pop because you is a snake in the grass manager like you've always been and that's why you were takin off Saturday Night and they put me in that situation which I will be receiving an Ace for at the Cable Awards.

Dusty I bow to you. How's that award look? nevermind

Where was I? Stomps and another eyelock by Ohtani.  Ohtani hooks on the buffalo sleeper.  Eddy elbows out.  Side salto(almost but not quite a back drop driver) for 2 by Eddy. Brainbuster reversed to a german for 2 for the Holy one.  Springboard spinkick by Ohtani. Slam and Ohtani goes up top.  Eddy joins him and hits a Rana.  Eddy hits his nasty nasty Crucifix bomb for 2.  Crucifix and God, hmmmmm?  Pattersons to rolling anklelock by Ohtani.  Eddy in ropes but Ohtani won't break.  Both bail and a whip to the rail and Eddy slams God outside.  Top rope apron Cross body.  Eddy tries to apron suplex Ohtani outside but that's reversed.  Springboard dropkick to the back of Eddy's head.  Ohtani is mouthbleeding hardway.  Dragon suplex attempt but Eddy elbows out.  A bunch of pinning reversals follows and Ohtani gets the final one. **** 1/2 easy.  Fuck you Vince.  This shit can get over.

WCW 2 New Japan 3

Gene with Savage.  Savage busts out the Buzz Lightyear line twice--"To infinity and beyond"  He also talks the smack to Cowboy (Tenzan).  He actually says, "Tenzan I know you can't understand me..."  My response is: Who can?

Cowboy vs. Savage WCW Champ

Basic Savage stalling to begin. Lockup and they fight for it all over the place.  Eventually the ref breaks it up.  Make that a double.  Tenzan hoofs and chops out of the corner.  More stomping and basic beatdown.  Tenzan rams Savage's head in the turnbuckle and gets an eyerake.  Then he punches Savage in the back of the head.  Whip to a Cowline for 2.  He then slaps on a front chancery and transitions to a side headlock.  Move to the corner and let's have some punchin and a choppin.  Then to further drive home the point that the Japanese are the heels, even though this is match six and he's facing the WCW champ, Cowboy hits the chokes.  Savage with some offense but Tenzan stands there chewing his cud, no selling anything.  More power stuff by Tenzan.  I have had a bunch of beers at this point and I am having trouble reading my writing.  Anywho, Savage gets a nosehold in the corner.  Whip and a spinning hoof by Cow.  Then Cowboy puts the hoofs to Savage.  After all that, Tenzan nearly gores Savage with few headbutts.  I know the horns come off but why would they allow such blatent violence I ask.  Cow hits some brutal, and by brutal I mean cheesy, karate chops and Macho bails.  Cow follows and posts Savage and then hits the snake eyes on the rail.  Punchin and a headbuttin follow.  Whip to mountianbomb by Tenzan.  He goes for the swandive and says, Benoit who?, as he actually hits it for 2.  Slam and Cow climbs up top, I know I know I didn't think Cows took to elevation well, I am proven by my beliefs as he misses a moonsault.  Savage with a clothesline and a alleged apron suplex sets up the TEST PATENTED ELBOW for 3.  **3/4 solid but I'm not a fan

WCW 3 New Japan 3.

Huh, a best of seven series and it goes to the seventh match, what a surprise.  That happens as much as a 2/3 falls match gets to the third fall.  By the way, I'm not a betting man, which is good because this is wrestling, but I don't see the next match ending with a Japanese on top.

Mean Gene with Dick Flair, basic Flair tourette syndrome follows

Sting vs. Kenesuki Sasaki the WCW US Champ

And we open with some kicks and punches by the foreigner.  Then again to drive home the point of heelness against THE STINGER, he hits the chokes.  He then gets that I grab your head at hit you turnbuckle to turnbuckle corner to corner thing.  Sasaki slams Sting for 1.  Then we HIT THE CHINLOCK BABY.  Can you tell what I am thinking?  Sting gets out and hits his weird punch chop punch chop thing and hits the Stinger Splash.  Corner whip by Sasaki to a Jericho Bulldog to a couple of clothesline.  Sting hits a dropkick.  Sting hits a Clawline and Sasaki goes over the top.  SERENITY NOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW.  Sorry.  Apron suplex flipped through to a powerslam by Sasaki.  I am not sure about the next spot.  I say brainbuster by the DM said Fishermanbuster follows.  Basically the same move but instead of hooking the leg he grabbed his crotch.  Maybe it's a northen lights bomb.  Any this sets up some stompage by Sasaki.  Armbar to draw heat by Sasaki and we get a Nationialistic Chant by Tennessee.  Sasaki hits the crucifix hold.  Whip armdrag for 2.  Then Sasaki hits the sharpshooter on Sting.  HAHAHAHA.  Sting powers out and we get a dragon screw leg whip by Sasaki.  He goes for it again but Sting hits the owenziguri.  Sharpshooter by Sting and that gets the WORLD CUP BABEEEEE!!!!!

Team America hits the ring.  Chris doesn't look to happy to be in the ring with these chowdaheads.

We get a video package of the Title fued.  Basically they ripped this off a few years later so you newer fans might recognize it.  You see, Sting and Luger are best friends but business is business and maybe Luger is setting Sting up, I know I know that would NEVER happen FIFTEEN times.  So in convoluted booking 101 we learn how to deal with this and some other issues.  Ric Flair, Sting, and Lex will fight in a tag format triangle match.  The winner will get Savage immediately after.  Now the announce team all night have mentioned that Flair hasn't wrestled at all tonight and he is the fresh man.  Hmmmmm.  So Sting, Savage, and Lex all wrestle twice tonight and Flair, if he loses the triangle match will only wrestle once?  Your right I can't call it at all, nothing is obvious to me.

Sting vs Lex vs Ric

We get a cointoss and the odd man out has to sit on the apron.  Lex is out first.  Flair does his usual bit and so does Sting.  Lockup to a break and more taunting.  Chops whip and press slam by Sting for 2.  He goes for the Sharpshooter but Flair is in the ropes. Flair bails and stalls.  Lockup to patterson hammerlock and some stomps by Flair.  Punches and chops by Ric and then he hits the hammerlock.  Cornerwhip and Flair follows through and hits some bodacious chopposity.  But Sting no sells because HE'S THE STINGER BABEEEE!!!!  Armdrag to dropkick to press slam to the 10 punch all Sting.  Jericho bulldog and Flair bails.  Sting follows and Flair asks Sting politely if he knows what the guardrail feels like.  Sting says no and then Flair shows him.  Stingerline.  Chops and whip to a rail by Flair and Sting no sells.  Flair beg Flair beg.  Armdrag by Sting.  Flair dodges dropkick.  Flair hits the kneedrop. At this time Flair starts taunting Luger. Flair kicks Sting a few times at gets to the Clubberin'.  Tony at this time takes a break to remind us of Black Scorpion.  Ladies and Gentleman of the jury example 76090808 of Tony's suckitude.  Luger distracts the Ref and Flair throws Sting over the top rope.  Chops slams and punches on the rail by Flair.  Back in and Flair sees things going his way and he starts STYLIN AND PROFLIN.  Kicks by Flair followed by a no sold suplex.  Chops in corner by Flair.  Ric seizes the moment and goes up top and goes right back down with help from the other guy in the ring.  This is 95 so that's only happened 3 million times at this point. Cornerwhip whips and yet another press slam by Sting.  We go up top and Sting hits a Superplex for 1 when Luger jumps in.  Cheap shots on Sting.  Sting tags Luger

Flair of course bails because he his edumacated.  Luger goes retrieves him and Flair hits the Greco-Roman Beg.  Punches in corner and Ric hits the golota.  Punches by Ric whip and Lex does what he does best: Stand still and let people knock themselves down with a shoulderblock.  Whip and a press slam followed with the 10 punch, feel the heat Lex.  Flair flop.   Elbow drop by Lex for 2.  Flair gets an eypoke.  Knee crushes by the Ricster.  Choke and stomps leading to more stompage by the older man.  Ric brings the STEEL violence.  Chops in corner followed by a knee splash by Ric.  Ric taunts the Stinger and with the Ref distract we get the beautiful *****ballshot.  Figure four time baby!  Lex sits up and Flair slaps him but Luger Hulks up, sorry, and turns it over.  Ric bails. Ric back on the apron goes for a suplex but Luger hits his for 2.  Ric goes up top and surprise surprise he falls down. GERIATRIC VIOLENCE all no sold by Lex, guess the medicaid didn't go through.  Whip shoulderblock by Lex.  Flair up and Flair tags in Sting. Ric is a diabolical fuck wouldn't you say?

Sting and Lex stare holes through each other.  Wait that's just a close up of Lex's ears.  We hit the shake of respect but the fuckers aren't Japanese and we get boooooo.  Lockup break and Tony gets all nostalgic on our asses. You suck.  Lockup...break.  Luger with the kicks.  Turnbuckle hit to kicks to another turnbuckle hit by Lex.  He goes for one more but Sting reverses to a 10 punch.  However when Sting brings Nashville to five, Luger gets the Atlanta drop.  Sting no sells and hits a Stingerline.  Lockup to an elbow by Lex.  Corner to shoulderblocks by Lex.  Whip to Sting kick. Another whip but Sting meets the LEX EXPRESS!!  Snake eyes and Luger gets some rightous chokeage and stompage. Sting bails.  Luger goes for the axe handle and being that it's not the 80's and he's not the only guy to bring that move from the eighties (Savage) Sting hits him.  Roll back in and Sting goes up top.  Crossbody for 2.  Slam to cornersplash but it hits the knees.  Luger comes back with a bunch of elbows.  Goes for pin but Sting is in the ropes.  Kicks to midsection and Sting catches the last one.  Sting gets the Yakuza kick and follows with some punching.  Sharpshooter but Lex is in the ropes.  Lex looks at his friend and remembers their past together and all the fun times.  And hits Sting in the dick.  Atlanta drop by Luger.  Small package by Sting for 2 followed by a sunset flip for another 2.  Suplex by Lex but Sting reverses and hits his own.  Whip to kick to bulldog.  Stinger Splash but the sequel bombs at the box office.  Torture rack but ref is bumped.  Flair jumps in and takes out Luger's knees.  Flair throws them both out and ref counts Sting and Flair out for the Flair win. **** I normally hate these kinds of matches but Flair was absolutely awesome.  And the countout win was equally brillant.  Flair now faces Poffo for the TEN POUNDS OF GOLD.

Flair vs Randy Poffo

If you ask me what Poffo means I'll kill you.  Before anything even happens Bobby blows the ending.  Just rent the tape if you want to know what that means.

Michael Buffer is in the ring.  You know someone can talk about WCW fucking up their expense accounts and stuff.  Trust me the BIGGEST money mistake was paying this BOXING asshole hundreds of thousands of dollars per appearence to say one fucking sentence.  Are you ready??? I said ARE YOU READY!!!  Ladies and gentleman LET'S GET READY TO FORCLOSURE!!!!!!!!!!! God damn fuckstains

Lockup to knee by Flair.  Flair whips goes for an armdrag but the Poffster gets the backslide for one.  Lockup to Flair kicks and chops.  Whip Savage gets the punches. Macho punches Ric in corner then climbs for the ten punch but drops the Atlanta drop.  Figure four reveresed by Macho.  Corner push and punches and Mach smashes Flair's head in the turnbuckle.  Flair flop.  Flair blocks the axe handle.

Ok time for a confession....When I do a review I write down the play by play in code in a notebook.  I also like to have a few beers.  Well, in fact by this time I had several few beers and I can't read my writing all that well so I might miss some stuff but fuck it's Flair and Savage if you can't picture the match play by play in your head then you probably asking yourself why is the President of WCW fighting the slim jim guy?

More mid eighties offense of questionable doom follows.  Ric blades at one point and taps a gusher.  Mach eventually gets the TEST PATENTED ELBOW but horseman chicanary happens because we all know the only purpose of the Four Horseman is to protect Ric.  Arn hits Poffo internationally and throws Ric on top for the 3.  ***

Hit the credits we's done

Not a bad tape.  Actually it's a damn good tape.  Good booking throughout even though I bitched.  Bobby and Dusty need a radio show they are too funny to mention.  I do have to question doing a gimmick show on your Wrestlemania WCW.  I personally would have done the invasion angle at Great American Bash in 96.  Oh wait........

Official Grade-- B+.  As Brandon said, a very good show.  Everything was solid, plus there were three matches at the **** range.....you can't ask for much more from a PPV.  It's really a shame this show happened in 1995 when nobody really cared about it.  Done today, with appropriate TV buildup in North American and Japan, this show would undoubtedly pop one of the largest buyrates of all time.
