The Immortal Hulk Hogan
by me
Doesn't that mere title almost make you want to puke? Well, I guess I shouldnt say much, the guy did do alot for professional wrestling, but I have never liked Hulk Hogan, so I guess maybe it is personally sickening. I respect him for the good things he did, but at the same time he caused alot of bullshit by being such an egomaniac. If there are any Hogan marks out there, that's fine. I don't really like him, never did, but then many people have since turned against Bret Hart, so really we're all in the same boat. No matter who you like, there is SOMEBODY out there who doesnt like them and will give you shit for it. Oh well.....on to YOUR matchlist......
Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect
Hogan/Piper vs. Ric Flair/Sid Justice
Hogan vs. Ted Dibiase w/Zeus World Title
Hogan vs. Typhoon
Sean Mooney and Lord Alfred Hayes provide the overdubbed commentary. And if you didn't know that Hogan wins every match on his own tape, well they tell you. These are all from about 1990 to 1992, for frame of reference. At least I can look forward to that tag match.......
The Supreme Tan Overlord vs. Mr. Perfect w/Genius
This is from a Saturday Night Main Event in Austin, TX. So if you can figure out the exact date, more power to you. It's pretty soon after Wrestlemania VI, I'm pretty sure. Figure April or May. Lockup to start, and Perfect wildly oversells the simple toss away. Hiptoss by Perfect, but Hogan comes right back with a hiptoss and a couple slams, and Perfect bails. HUGE Hogan chant here, he's just crazy over. Back in, Perfect with punches and chops. Whip is reversed, but Perfect dodges the big boot and rolls out. Hogan follows and introduces him to the post. Clothesline by Hogan, and another. Chops in the corner by Hogan, but Perfect comes back with a back elbow to send him outside. Hogan fires right back outside as the Genius interferes, allowing Perfect to come back. Perfect tries to fly outside, but Hebner threatens him with a DQ. Stupid. Perfect with punches outside, and back in for a snapmare and Hennig-snap. Choking, two elbows, but the 3rd misses. Hogan comes back, but lowers his head and takes a kick and clothesline. Perfect plex.........barely gets 2. What, you thought Mr. Perfect had the remotest chance in hell to win this thing? Big boot, leg drop. **1/2 Damn good match for Hogan. Huge pop for the win, natch.
The Minister of Orangness/Roddy Piper vs. Ric Flair/Sid Justice
The banner in the background says Prime Time Wrestling, and this obviously right after Royal Rumble 1992. 50/50 reaction for Flair, and good pops for Hogan and Piper. Flair and Piper start. Flair struts and whooos, and Piper bitchslaps him, Flair Flop. Staredown and the crowd goes crazy. Flair takes over with HUGE chops in the corner, but Piper comes right back with a back body drop and kneelift. 10 punch and Flair Flip, and Hogan gives him the big boot on the apron. Sid and Hogan tag in, and Sid gets a big cheer actually. Bet the WWF wasnt happy with THAT at the time. Staredown, then Sid pounds Hogan. Slam and Sid works the back. Choking, and Flair whooos right in Hogan's face just to be a dick. Haha. Hogan punches out and hits the corner clothesline, but Sid goes to the back. Tag to Piper and he beats ass, slamming Sid's head into the mat multiple times. Piper takes Sid down and goes to the headscissors, but Sid nips right back up and crushes Piper with a clothesline. Sid up top (!), but a double axe misses, but Sid tosses Piper in the corner anyway. Flair in, atomic drop, then tosses Piper outside for Sid, who hits him with the WEAKEST CHAIRSHOT EVER. I mean, come on Sid, it's alright to actually swing the chair a little.......anyway, back in for a cover by Flair, but that paragon of virtue and everything that is fair and right Hogan distracts the ref, and it finally gets 2. Chops by Flair, and he suckers Hogan inside allowing them to beat the fuck outta Piper. Piper stops them with a Flair toss, and they do a nice little mat sequence that ends with Piper getting the tag to Hogan. Punches, back body drop, couple clotheslines, and a cheap shot for Sid on the apron. Big boot, leg drop, but Sid breaks it up with ANOTHER weak ass chairshot. Ohtani forbid that Hulk Hogan take a chairshot. Flair rolls over for a cover, but Hogan of course kicks out. No sellling abounds, atomic drop as it all breaks down. Sid manhandles Hogan and Piper and tosses them both outside, but he follows up on Piper, allowing Hogan to come back in and hit a clothesline on Flair for the 3. Dumb ending, but a decent match. *** Flair absolutely ruled the world here, doing all the little things right.
Darth Orange vs. Ted Dibiase w/Zeus
This is from Saturday Night Main Event. Trading punches to start, and headlock by Hogan. Couple shoulderblocks. Crowd is just nuts here. Zeus trips up Hogan and they choke each other, and Ted takes over. Hogan graciously allows Ted about two punches, then takes over again. Earl actually breaks it up with Hogan using closed fists too.....interesting. Ted attacks from behind, and Zeus chokes Hogan again. Jake the Snake out and distracts Ted though, allowing Hogan a rollup for 2. Punches, 10 punch, and Virgil comes out to steal Damien and Jake gives chase. Ted clotheslines Hogan out and we get clippage. We come back with Ted controlling, and gets a clothesline for 2 count. Suplex and double axe get 2, and we hit the chinlock. Hogan comes back, shoulderblock, and really sloppy double KO clotheslines. Ugly. Hogan is up first, but Zeus interferes again. Fistdrops by Ted, up top, but a kneedrop only gets 2. Cue the typical Hogan comeback, but Zeus is in to hold Hogan up. Clothesline attempt, but Hogan ducks as Ted hits Zeus, and Hogan gets the quick rollup for 3. Eh, we'll go **.
Tanned to a Golden Brown vs. Typhoon w/Jimmy Hart
The banner in the background says Wrestling Challenge. Lockup, and Typhoon throws Hogan off. Hogan comes back and gets a 10 punch, eye rake, and two clotheslines, all of which are no-sold. Jimmy interferes, and then we hit the bearhug for a LONG, LONG, LONG TIME. Hogan FINALLY gets out and tries a shoulderblock, but Typhoon stops it and hits the big splash and gets 2. Cue the typical comeback, see ya. 1/4 * Horrible match.
Official Grade-- B+. Typhoon match aside, this is a great tape....I was actually wishing it was longer the first time I ever watched it.
