Some people are farmers. Some people are thieves. Merchants, soldiers, beggars, and kings. And then there are the heroes. Those that keep the night safe for all. From the creatures that walk in Darkness, and worship Darkness.
Staek doesn't claim to be a hero.
Yet he is here to reclaim the night, the Darkness, in the name of the living.

Staek, the vampire-hunter gully dwarf. Obviously he isn't the best. He hasn't had too many kills he can actually claim. Of the four vampire's he's fought, two were so amused that a Gully would attack them, that they beat the hell out of him until the sun rose. Then they sorta...burned. Another kill was so insane from bloodlust and what he had become, even a child could have staked him. And the fourth, sorta beat Staek around, then ran when the sun rose.

He is actually clean...bald, and his nails are short. He lacks the potbelly all Gully's have, as well as the scars most gullys receive throughout their life. And the only bad scent that follows him, is the smell of fresh graveyard dirt, and garlic. So for now he isnt a revolting sort of ugly, like some Aghar are. He's more the pitiful, homeless puppy cute, type of ugly.

This isnt because hes special and totally unlike other aghar, or that he likes to be clean. Its because some of his friends thought him worthy to bring him back to life, when he was murdered. This was the after effect of the resurrection, due to only having a skull to work with. He was pretty much reborn, without the scars, hair and lifetime of grime he had before he died.

His only clothing is a pair of childrens pants, and a rough wool shirt 10 sizes too big for him, coming to his knees. A rope wrapped around his waist counts as a belt.
But tucked into that belt is a wondrous weapon. A beautifully crafted, expertly carved wooden stake (made by level 2 tinker), with a metal core for structural strength, and a grip fitted for Staek's small hand. Indeed, a worthy weapon for such a grand warrior (Thanks Tade!)

Staek is smarter then average, being able to count to 16...in his own unique fashion. He still can't read or write even his own name. (He can write the letter "A" though!) He has many friends...surprisingly. He scares easy from living people, unless they threaten his friends. When he is brave though, it is usually against undead. He is extremely susceptible to praise, having never been given it before, and good charisma also affects him a lot. Anyone who speaks with a lot of intelligence can easily confuse him, and strong people will prolly scare him slightly.

Staek's history is quite simple really. He was born the son to a shaman. Of course, he was expected to follow in his poppa's footstumbles, and carry the rat of power too. But that ended when his father was killed. They had searched nearby caves for treasures, broken pottery, and rats. Unfortunately, a Vampire was healing his wounds in that cave, and the Shaman's magic was ineffective (Duh!). Only half the group survived. Staek went to kill the thing, but luckily for him the bloodsucker was gone. He traveled the land, finally coming to Kip's. He made a bunch of nice friends, and no real enemies. He was even given armor and magic weapons. Then, late one night, he spied on a mage Decinus, thinking that a vampire might be nearby. He was caught by the mages associate, a drow, and paralyzed, and tortured for info on the High Clerist. Staek didnt talk, and his throat was slit. His friends brought him back to life from a quest they went on. Now Staek dedicates his life to slaying such fiends, and keeping his new friends safe.
