SUMMARY: someone is afraid to come
home

He didn’t want to
go in there. Every time he came home it seemed she was either
ready to yell
or cry. He had tried to explain
things to her, but she never understood. It was frustrating, but
even worse, it
was awkward and painful.
He stared into the
brightly lit windows and wondered what her reaction would be this
time. Last
time she had screamed at him, slapped
him, and then dissolved into hysterical sobs while he stood there
mute, body frozen in stunned surprise.
He just didn’t get
it. She knew when they got married that this would never change,
didn’t she?
He could ignore a world in distress
as well as he could skip breathing for an hour or two!
What did she love
about him if not that? It was the very core of his being, if she
took that away
what would be left?
“Maybe I’ll take a
walk.” he said softly, knowing in his heart that delaying his return
would only
make things worse. “I need to
think..” his voice died to a whisper.
