forgotten

It sat amid
clutter atop a dusty shelf. The sight alone brought a wave of
hate and fear to the forefront of his mind. It was the radar that
located the dragon balls. He had seen Kakarotto’s son with it on
Namek years ago. The boy had lied and told him it was a
watch. He’d learned differently since then.
And now here it
sat, unguarded. He could take it and gather the dragon balls at
his leisure. But did he want immortality? Did he want to
live forever? And what if some day came where someone stronger
than him broke every bone in his body or chopped him into pieces like
Trunks did to Frieza? Would he still live through that? Who
the hell would even want to anyway? He shivered at the thought of being
rent to pieces and to live and suffer that.
Even if he never
encountered a scenario like that, what would he do as the years
stretched to millennia? He could hardly think of anything to do
other than training as it was.
And if he decided to rule the
Universe, to conquer all as Frieza had sought to, what then once it all
was his? He shook his head and walked past the radar as if he’d
never seen it.
To die seemed so
much better than to live forever.
