I have decided that I want to create my own political party. It will be called the People Party, and will focus on the realistic aspects of politics. There will be no main platform, except for the requirement that each member think for themselves in order to decide what is right and wrong. No more will politicians look to their political party to tell them how to think. And though religion is a very nice thing to be a part of, it will have no place in the People Party. There is such a thing as separation of church and state that some people have forgotten about recently.
With the creation of the People Party comes the end of the electoral college and the Democratic and Republican parties. Every vote in the popular vote is counted, and that is the only vote. The candidate who wins the majority vote wins. No contest. (Unless there is a tie. I havent figured out what will happen if that occurs, since it is highly improbable.)
Every candidate represents himself, and what he or she believes in. They will focus on the issues that are important to the American people, and the President will make no laws restricting the rights of the people. Every person will have the right to choose in every aspect of their lives. That means that abortions, marriage, and everything else will be decided by the people. Individuals will be allowed to do what they want, within reason.
Peace will be the ultimate goal of this party. No wars will be started, and we will not meddle in other peoples business. Our country will talk to others and share our experiences with them, in order to form a friendship and bond with them. There is no need for violence as long as we can talk to one another and work to make compromises.
I know that this is just a dream and that such a political party will probably never be created. We will be stuck with the same old political system that has been in place since the country was created. And nothing will ever change for the better.
In fact, I believe that we are sliding further and further into political hell right now. And I dont even follow politics. Im not even registered to vote. And I refuse to vote until the popular vote is the only vote. Because until then, the statement that every vote counts makes no sense, when millions of votes for an opponent get whittled down to a few electoral college votes that mean diddly squat. Its nonsense.
Well, thats my little rant for the day. It feels good to get these thoughts out of my head now and then. I have to say I like writing this column again.
