My love of faeries started as a small child. My Grandmother sent me beautifully illustrated books of fairy tales from England. I would sit for hours with these books and make up my own stories when I tired of reading. I still have some of these books and can remember exactly the enchantment I felt reading these tales.
By the time I was a teenager, I felt I was much too grown up for anything to do with faeries until I saw a production of Shakespeare's "Midsummer Nights Dream". It not only brought back my love for the wee folk, but also a continuing admiration of Shakespeare.
Below are my two favorite faerie verses. The first by Shakespeare and the next by James M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan.
