A YouTube Comment that really bugged me.
I like to Watch other dancers performances on Youtube. I like to stay connected to the collective and hear what other people thing about this and that.

After I watched a video of a girl performing her style of Tribal Fusion, I decided to read the comments and see what others though. One person made a comment something to the effect of:
"I'm sick of watching all these americans takes something that they no nothing about, and re-inventing it into something terrible."

Though I understand why he said what he did, I don't entirely agree. This comment obviousley brings up thoughts of politics, and the wrongs that America has done throughout history, but I'll leave that alone.

I feel that bellydance in general is something that SHOULD be shared throughout the world between all cultures no matter who "invented" it. It is an art from that is meant to bring others together in a celebration of life, beauty, and joy. Most people think that Traditional bellydance came from Egypt. But I can't make myself believe that it origionated in one place. The movements used in traditional Egyptian bellydance came from many parts of the Middle East, from different cultures. It evolved and became a Very Seasoned dance. I believe that alot of the movements, or atleast the ideas also came from Africa, and other 'black' cultures (as politically correct, and non-prejudice as I can). The truth is, no one really knows how it started, who started it, or how many cultural flavors it contains, no matter what you think you know. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't a dance of seduction. It was created by women, for women. Used in ritual, ceremonies, and other events that celebrated life & death.

All in All, Bellydance is for everyone! Like I said, it's meant to bring others together, and anything that does that is a Beautiful thing.
