The Olive Street Fiasco.
The Olive Street Bar in Monroe, La is a great place to catch all the local Metal Bands play on weekends.

So What happened?
Ok, so I went the the OSB to watch Soulfuel and Gloomchasers (who both kick ass by the way) a few months ago. I decided to have a chat with the owner while he was there, and ofcourse I was a little drunk, so I'm not sure what all was said. Anyway. After the band was done, and we were all just chillin and drinkin, Amy (the guy) of Soulfuel comes up and sais something to the effect of, "So you're a bellydancer huh?".
Ofcourse I say yes, and he walks away. About 5 minutes or more later he comes back with a handful of money, and tempts me to get on the bar and dance.

Before you get upset, I know! It is terrible, and no bellydancer should cheapen the Art. But can I just say, there is nowhere around here to perform, and I'm getting frustrated after 5 years! (and I was really drunk. did I mention that?)
So yes, I did it. And I was more than glad to since they were playing Pantera's "Cowboys from Hell".
Once it was over, the owner walks to me and sais, "There's your Audition, you can perform here anytime you want."

Now, I have thought about this carefully, and for several Months. It's not the Ideal place for a Bellydancer to perform, but you have to consider the style of dance as well. I dance to Heavy Metal and Gothic/Industrial Music. Where in this part of the state am I going to perform, where people will accually enjoy, and apreciate it?

And the only conclusion I can come up with?
Go where the metal heads go!

It's a few months later, and I've been asked by Micah of Gloomchasers to perform at their show with Drysocket on June 21st at the Blue Monkey Taver. And Hell Yeah, I'm doin it!

I owe a Thanx to Amy, Micah, and my Mom!
