Currently in my third year of studying for a PhD in Applied Mathematics.

BSc (Hons) Degree in Mathematics: class I. Courses over a broad range of Mathematical fields, including: Pure, Applied, IT and Statistics (specialising in Elasticity: Applied Mathematics).

1987 - 1994 Enfield Grammar School, London

A-levels: Mathematics (A), Biology (C), Chemistry (C). GCSE’s, 8 (grade A-C) including Mathematics (A), English (B, C).

Skills and Abilities

Computer Skills:

  • Computer literate with good knowledge of email, Word, Latex, Excel, Access, HoTMetaL Pro, HTML, UNIX, programming in Pascal and Fortran.
  • Experience of the Internet and Web design: created my own personal Web page, and the UEA Badminton Societies Web page.

Teaching experience:

  • Privately tutored several students for Mathematics degree level, A-level and GCSE.
  • Lead Mathematics Degree Undergraduate problem classes.
  • Assessment of Undergraduate Mathematics coursework.

  • Full clean driving licence

Work Experience

  • Bar Assistant, often left in charge of the Bar.
  • Campus Guide, showing prospective students and their parents around the University.

1997 Walthamstow, London: Roofer's Laborer, working as part of a team on a roofing project for a small company.

1996 Enfield, London: Meat Wholesalers Assistant, hard physical work, as part of team, transporting frozen goods around the city.

1992 Kirkplan Kitchens, Palmers Green, London: Telesales, involving building customer relations and telephone skills.

Childminder, Responsible for 3 children.

Activities and Interests

  • Committee member of the UEA Badminton Club, Captain of the Men's Team and enthusiastic player.
  • Keen hiker/scrambler, and am heavily involved with the UEA Fell and Cave Club, for which I am a walk-leader on organised walking weekends around the UK.
  • Travel: have toured Europe extensively, and visited America, India, Pakistan, and Japan.
  • Presented at the British Applied Mathematics Colloquium (1999).
  • A strong interest in Music, and have been involved with a drama group with which I have toured Europe in the Boden’s Show Choir, performed at such prestigious venues as the London Palladium and the Theatre Royal (Drury Lane).
