LETTER DATED 7 APRIL 1997 FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
ADDRESSED TO THE
PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCILI have
the honour to refer to my predecessor's letter of 15 November 1996 to the
President of the Security Council (S/1996/947), informing members of the Council
of the extension for six months of the mandate of my Representative in
Cambodia in keeping with the spirit and principles
of the Paris Agreements.
I wish to inform you in this
regard that, following consultations with the Government of
Cambodia, I have decided on a further six months'
extension of the Office of my Representative in Phnom Penh. My Representative
will continue to be assisted by one military adviser.
I should be
grateful if you would bring this information to the attention of the members of
the Security Council.
