I can't very well tell you to rent Lock, Stock...etc. before seeing Snatch and not put this here, now can I?
Filled with a dense, interwoven passel of plots, ridiculous characters and improbable coincidences Lock, Stock... creates hilarity in a dark, black comedy of errors.
The subtitles are ABSOLUTELY essential in a unique manner. Unemcumbered by needing to be understood, the flow and cadence of the actors' language and emotions is heard, while the printed text lets you get every bit of the practical parts of the character's communication.
I've never seen a film work the two forms (text and sound) in this manner, and I love it!
The plot revolves about a pair of shotguns, as one might guess from the title, but what is really going on is a bit more complex than you might ever expect. In a nutshell, the theives are stealing from theives who've stolen from theives what the first guys might have lost if they had gotten their hands on it in the first place. Make sense?
It won't until the very end, but like a rollercoaster, where you go has little to do with how much fun it is to end up right where you started. Believe me, you will get right back in line once you catch your breath.
