This year's get together was small due in part to being planned without a lot of prior notice and because of a family death and previous plans of those who would have attended.Rap, Swan, Akhenhotep, Betinas.we missed you!!! We promise to plan ahead for next year's annual get together!

Seti and Ptolemy arrived at Pharaoh's palace late Friday night. Seti and User watched a bit of reality TV and exchanged tips on the subject matter (for more info on THIS subject please speak to Seti or User). Saturday morning after getting lost on the freeway, the three arrived at Wadjet's house for breakfast. We had decided since there were fewer people than originally planned for, we would drive to San Francisco rather than take the ferryboat. We packed a picnic lunch, chairs, and blankets and headed out for the day. For a summer day, the weather was very dreary and overcast, so we dressed in sweatshirts and jackets and left for "The City".

First stop was Fisherman's Wharf and some people watching for a few hours. Later, during an exciting ride through city streets on the way to Golden Gate Park we were regaled with interesting tidbits of information on User's favorite subject while Seti and Ptolemy sat in the backseat quietly making mental notes for future reference. We eventually settle on a picnic spot in a nice wooded cove in the park where Seti enjoyed the specially requested flat bread and humus and other assorted goodies. For a big guy, Ptolemy didn't eat a lot, but he does like his dessertsAkhenhotep watch out! Since it was sooo cold, we decided to pack up and drive over to North Beach (Little Italy) for a cup of Expresso.

While looking for a parking spot and circling the block, a pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk as I was turning - we very nearly collided! After exchanging a few words at the car window (and probably seeing the size of the front seat passenger {Pharaoh not Wadjet!}) the pedestrian and his cane crossed safely to the other side of the street. After coffee, dessert (guess who had dessert, AGAIN?) and more people watching we checked out Rapachi's favorite used bookstore. By this time, it was getting late and even colder, so we decided it was time to head back to Wadjet's house and the BBQ.

Back at Wadjet's house for the evening, Seti and Ptolemy got in a little on-line time while Pharaoh and Stevehotep visited and cooked the evening's meal. After a great dinner of bbq chicken, salads, watermelon and chocolate cake (guess who had the biggest piece of cake?) we settled in to watch some Jurassic Park movies, past and upcoming. The party ended about 11pm ish, User, Seti and Ptolemy driving back to the palace only having to stop once for road sickness!

Sunday we met at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum where Hathor and Anquet and her husband joined us. After listening to a brief informal talk by a museum docent on mummification, we explored the mummy gallery and gift shop. We then went on an interactive tour of the rock cut tomb replica, led by Wadjet. While we were in the mock tomb, UsermaatRa told a couple of fascinating stories of his recent trip to Egypt.

We later proceeded to additional galleries which were undergoing reorganization. Most of our group answered questions from various museum guests at many of the artifact display cases. After the museum tour, Ptolemy drove home (about 5 hours south), Seti was taken to the airport by User, Anquet and husband left for home and I headed back up the freeway for a much needed rest.

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend!
