EVINIA
Goddess of Oceans, Lakes and Rivers
Queen of the Deep

Evinia, who took over the mantle of the Water Goddess after the Elemental Lords were exiled, appears often in the form of a slender mermaid when in the open sea, although she prefers the form of a rather muscular woman when in the port towns. Her body is completely hairless, save for her short, curly hair, which is also full of little pieces of multi-coloured seaweed. Many sailors claim to have seen her, although in most occasions they have either seen a mermaid, or have been so far gone in their drinking they also saw her riding a clam chariot pulled by dolphins (some of which may be true, as it is a recurring image in tales told by several seamen that this scholar has spoken with.
She is worshipped by sea-goers and all marine life, including the Lizardmen who call her 'Duf-Kak' (Life Giver). The Worship of the Waters is a quasi-religious celebration of her guardianship in the maritime sphere.
Evinia is a rather vain creature, spending a lot of her time in self-admiration. Although one of the more senior of the Younger Gods, she acts in a fashion reminiscent of many creatures in their youth, being cheerfully obsessed with trivial matters. Although not greedy, she loves pearls and will do almost anything to gain them. She is unconcerned by other 'precious' stones and metals, but loves pretty, shiny things from the sea. This scholar has noticed a similarity in this between Evinia and the magpie. She is rather naive from her time away from the other gods.
