The Elemental Lords

Pyran and Gean

The Elemental Lords of Fire (Pyran), Air (Aeran), Earth (Gean) and Water (Aquan) were each assigned to care for their elements by the Founder.  Each took this remit seriously, to the exclusion of all the others.  This existence continued for some time, but grew steadily more strained, until something triggered conflict.  No-one knows what brought the Elemental Lords into conflict, but they fought ferociously, the waves battering the land, the air stirring up the sea with huge winds, the skies themselves set alight.

The Blind Twins brought about the existence of the Younger Gods, who fought with and eventually individually exiled the four Elemental Lords into separate dimensions, where each was the sole ruler.  However, they ached to return to the land they had once ruled jointly, feeling their failure in the eyes of the Founder.  That, and without any challenge to their authority in their new homes, they swiftly grew tired of absolute rule.  Thus, when a mage accidentally ripped the barriers between their kingdoms and Erythia opened, they did not hesitate to return.

Aeran

They have yet to make a substantial impact, although the absence of the Younger Gods could be attributed to a renewal of the strife between the two generations of deities.  However, they have founded various enclaves of followers, all of whom are dedicated to their individual elements, and some of whom are quite proficient mages, if limited to that particular magical path.
