Goddess of the Birds

EAGIN

Friend to the Feathered

The Goddess of the Birds is named Eagin.  Eagin tends to appear in either bird-form (typically an owl, kestrel or robin), or as a small fragile woman, wearing feathered clothes. She does a far better job of being incognito than some of the other gods, although on occasion she has appeared as a winged human or elf to mortals, which has rather spoiled the disguise.

Eagin has few followers in modern times, as the birds in general are not intelligent enough to remember and worship their creator.  The main exception to this rule are the Eaglar, the humanoid bird-men, who can remember back to the time of the first of their race, and see Eagin as their main divine ruler. Aside from this, she has few followers amongst the humanoid, sentient races, and remains a little-known figure to modern society.

Eagin is a rather dippy character, who gave the dictionary the term 'bird-brained'. She is impulsive when making decisions, rather vain about her appearance, and very eccentric. However, she is also fiercely loyal and protective when it comes to her subjects, and will be involved whenever there are major problems within the feathered universe. Popular among the gods, she is often treated with condescension by the more serious of her brethren who see her as frivolous and erratic.  Despite her frivolity, she is very highly-strung, and does not respond well to threats.

Eagin does not often appear in chronicled history, and three of the four references to her are based on a manifestation with her husband Oberon.
