ALTA ARICHAN
Alta Arichan is the name given to the legendary city of the aquatic elves on the sea bed. Little is definately known about this city, although what is known is that it is entirely constructed from coral and is extremely beautiful as a result, as the sealife lives within the coral and flourish there.
The Aquatic Elves are ruled by a monarchy which began when they set up homes beneath the sea, the admiral becoming the first king. The usual advisors to the monarch are not present in this court, leading to the monarch often becoming unaware of events outside the walls of the royal residence. Thus even well-meaning monarchs do not always provide the good leadership that the aquatic elves need.
Alta Arichan is really just a larger colony of the underwater elves, as there is no such thing as trade (they do not understand the surface world's insatiable desire for 'pretties'). Such colonies mainly remain together to combat the traditional Aquatic Elven enemies, such as sharks, sahuagin and squid of all sizes. The elves have schools of fish in much the same way that humans have flocks of sheep, as a main food source.
The only nation the Aquatic Elves have large amounts of contact with (aside from their elven cousins) are the pirates from Gornior, with whom a war has been raging for many years. Pirate ships that venture in some areas are bound to be attacked, and occasionally scuttled, by the sea elves.
