THE NEW ORDER

One day there was a powerful mage, who had been defeated in his bid to become Chancellor of the Academy of Conjuration. This mage was extremely disgruntled, as he felt that he had been bested by deceit only, for the other mage had somehow caused his own creatures to be weak and feeble, leading him to suspect that the other mage was not a true Conjurer after all.
This unhappy sorcerer went out from the Academy and travelled to the centre of the continent, where the Temple of All Gods, also known as Stonehenge, dominates the surrounding area. This mage planned to summon the most powerful creatures available, then to return to the Academy to take his rightful place. He planned to use Stonehenge's divine power to strengthen his bid. However, in his hubris he did not properly plan and research the spell, and thus when it was cast it ripped asunder the planar barrier between this one and the Elemental plane, allowing the Four Elemental Lords to re-enter Erythia. The mage, realising his error, sacrificed his life to close the rip and prevent the destruction of Erythia, although the elemental presence would never be completely destroyed.
Some years later, the Elemental Lords presented themselves to certain chosen men and women, who became the first priests of the Elemental Lords, thus starting the Elementalist Enclaves which exist to this very day.
Followers of the Elemental Lords tend to not believe in the Younger Gods, but there are some that simply follow the Lords for the offered power...
