The Gorleston Blues
Three years in Norfolk
With thanks to Marga, Gin, Naomi, Tonic & Bruce
When I arrived in Gorleston Town, I saw the land was flat
I used to be this happy man but now I'm rather sad
'Cause I work in the JPH, not half a mile from sea
There's only foreign doctors there, and one of them is me
CHORUS:
Gorleston, oh sweet GORLESTON
Leaves me crying for my home
My only consolation is, I know I'm not alone
Gorleston, oh sweet GORLESTON
You've a mighty way to go
Before you reach the status of New York or Tokio
Polite like all the English are the people that I meet
They say 'oops I'm sorry doctor' when I'm standing on their feet
Fish and chips five days a week does wonders for their weight
We'd better seal the tunnel off before it is too late
CHORUS
On Thursday's there's the Ocean Room when all the work is done
Where you fill yourself with lukewarm beer to try and have some fun
Our presence lifts the average age by twenty years or more
Though the girls are nearly naked we would rather have the floor
CHORUS
After singing you this story I must get this off my chest
Because just like all the locals I am getting quite depressed
And if Freud were here beside me he'd be doing just like me
He would leave the suga out and put two Prozacs in his tea
CHORUS ad infin.
