| The Lineage of the Kings of Erebor and Khazad-dum | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
||||||||||||||||
| This is the true lineage, as written in the Apendix of the Lord of the Rings, Third Edition. Of course there is the addition of Gror II and Tror Orcvisor, to whom kingship of Moria fell after the death of Durin VIII the One Armed, who took back Moria and in doing so he slew the Great Goblin who had assumed command after Durin's Bane had been defeated by Gandalf at Zirakzigil, clearing out the terrible monster that had consumed the greatest and elder of all the Dwarven mansions, Khazad-dum, then called Moria. Durin and the Great Goblin Warlord hacked and hewn each other for hours, neither giving of taking an inch, both slowly destroying the other and an even methodical speed. Finally, Durin hewed the scalp of the Goblin Chieftan and spilled the contents of his skull upon the floor, but at victory, the goblin took a final swing and claimed the left arm of Durin as it fell to a bottomless pit. No one has been to the place for many long years, for the chamber has been sealed and considered by many a place that was scarred by the deaths of so many noble dwarves and believe it was also one of the pits which the Balrog once frequented. (I see a possible fan fiction coming here...) |
