This group of dwarves are very separatist. Only the Hill dwarves of the clan venture outside into the surface of Kurant, and those are admonished for doing so.
The mountain dwarves in this clan are surly, and generally unfriendly, they do not like outsiders and surface dwellers are always seen as an enemy.
The hill dwarves of this clan are more friendly, less suspicious, but cautious of outsiders. They do venture to the surface and serve as the clans merchants, ambassador’s etc. They don’t mingle with the mountain dwarves too much, because they are seen by the mountain dwarves to be too flighty.
The gully dwarves in this clan are typical of the subrace, and are used as servants, miners etc.
In General the dwarves of Grey Peak do not recognize the government of the surface dwellers of Kurant.
The Governor of Hillsdeep is Rachet Wetbeard
The dwarves of Hillsdeep are a unique phenomenon. This group is comprised of Hill dwarves that have settled into Kurant with a unique lifestyle. These dwarves have overcome their fear of water and have embraced its life giving resources.
They have built mills, farms, fisheries, and water farms. They harvest fish, pearls, coral, and other commodities. Hillsdeep has become Kurant’s main source for seafood and treasures from the sea.
The residents of Hillsdeep are friendly and welcome merchants and tourists. However, they discourage human, and elves from settling in the town.
Quoted one merchant, ”They like for people to visit, but like it even better when they leave.” They do so love others to come visit, are always having festivals, and inviting tourists to join in the fun. They have more lodges and boardinghouses than the average town but that is because of the high rate of humans and elves that come to see the spectacle of the Water Dwarves.
Among the population of Hillsdeep are Hill Dwarves 75%, Gully Dwarves 10%, and Gnomes 15%.
