In days bygone, the Black company was the last of the free companies of Khatovar. A superior force swept through the land and the Company suffered a devastating defeat. To recoup their loses, the Company went south to recruit. In their absence, they left a small contingent to hold the land until their return. In the years that followed much has changed. The Company has waxed and waned; rival companies have come and gone; the mission was even forgotten for a time, but the contingent is still here. The main body of the Black Company, however, never returned.
