Habits of Inquiry

Habits of Inquiry is very important to students because students demonstrated creativity by asking essential questions using habits of mind-evidence, connection, supposition, and significance. Students also demonstrate scientific inquiry by posing research questions, conducting research, and supporting decisions and solutions to problems with evidence. The three projects I will be discussing in this summation paper which satisfy the Habits of Inquiry H.L.O. are Finding Solutions, Heart Disease, and Sample Sewing Book.

The first project that satisfies Habits of Inquiry H.L.O. is Finding Solutions. I Completed this project in my chemistry class. The steps I took to complete Finding Solutions were I used the molarities formula, which is a number of moles divided by number of liters. This assignment demonstrates mathematical logic, reasoning and cause and effect relationships through problem solving. What I learned from this work was how the molarities of mole and moles of molarities work.

The second project that satisfies Habits of Inquiry H.L.O. is Heart Disease. I did this project in my biology class. As a class project we had to research about a disease.  I chose to research about heart disease because heart disease is the number one killer in the United States. Heart disease is a group of diseases that prevents the heart from working as well as it should.

The third project that satisfies Habits of Inquiry H.L.O is Sample Sewing Book. I did this project in my clothes designing class. I sewed a lot of different stitches, which were running stitch, catch stitch, overcast stitch, dart, elastic, flat felled seam, zipper, slip stitch, and plain seam. My favorite stitch was flat felled seam, which is used to finish seam. This project demonstrates creativity by asking essential questions using habits of mind-evidence, connection, supposition, and significance. It also demonstrates mathematical logic, reasoning, and cause and effect relationships through problem solving.

In conclusion Habits of Inquiry is very important to students. The habits of inquiry has demonstrates subject matter knowledge through the use of inquiry and through evaluation or interpretations that are substantiated by examples or data from the discipline.  Finding Solution, Heart Disease, and Sample Sewing Book have demonstrated the ability to apply decisions or solutions to future situations by making predictions, connections, and/or recommendations.
